It’s getting hard to keep up with these reviews, particularly as they’re all worth publishing.
The latest one to arrive in my inbox is this great review of the Acer TravelMate 6292 from CNET Australia.
The conclusion: “A well-built and — shock-horror — good-looking business notebook, the Acer TravelMate 6292 would be one of our first choices for life on the road.”

The 6292 got great reviews, but all were the vista version.
I bought an XP Pro version and there seems to be some problem. I actually returned one as faulty and got a replacement, but the same thing happened on the replacement.
2 issues
1. Acer e-recovery doesn’t function, it comes up as “service unavailable” from the acer -e toolbar widget thingo, and doesn’t run at all from the start menu or shortcut key. You can work around by digging into the program files folder and running erecoveryui.exe (not sure that is exactly the right filename) instead.
2. Major issues shutting down or logging off explorer.exe not closing, then shut down hanging, have to hold the power key down. The only way I found to fix this was to uninstall the fingerprint sensor software. Still seems like good value without a fingerprint sensor but it’s annoying to have basic stuff like this not working on the factory image. You have to wonder if they tested everything for vista then just chucked XP on as an afterthought.

@Kendi Posu,
can you provide more details? such as when it hangs, or any application will trigger the hang.

I have a Acer TravelMate6292-301G16Mn. Recently, when I tried to power up the laptop, the Power On LED lighted up for a second and then it died. The laptop could not be power up neither by connecting to the power supply and using only the battery. Can anyone help ? Thank you.

If you laptop cannot be power up anymore, you can go to the nearest service center to service it. Don’t service it yourself if it is in warranty.
If it sometimes can be powered up, make sure you press the Power Button a little longer when powering it up, around 2 secs.
