Hi, I have a 5920G Laptop with the Nvidia 8600 GS Turbo Cache.
The Graphcs Card has slowly died to the point I cannot now log in before it dies, If I remove the Card the computer boots up OK, without image..
I want to buy a new graphics card for this laptop, I am in Australia and are having hugh issues trying to obtain one. when I asked acer they said that there is no replacement card 4 them, but they are happy to repair it.
Personally I wish to use a different card that does not have the Nvidia solider issues with the chipsets. What Card and Where can I get one.
I am Happy to do my own work on the computer as I am a system builder for broadcast editing suites.

@Hannah,

That appears to be harddrive connection issue, if you are willing, you can try opening the back plate

you can find the steps to open the back plate here http://www.theacerguy.com/2008/12/morris-aspire-5920-gpu-swapupgrade/

reinserting the harddrive should help, but make sure there are no dust between the contacts

After having this computer for the last 2.5yrs, I started to finally have problems.

For some reason the battery won't stay in, so the computer keeps shutting off in midst of use. I mean, the battery's in the computer, but it is somewhat loose it seems. I have to compress the battery cell to the computer hard when using it.

Unfortunately, I've got some important files in it, so I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this problem. Email me at enishi1983@gmail.com . Thanks.

@Nicole,

Maybe the network card is getting old? You can get replacement for like less than $20 on ebay. I did it a few weeks ago, easy procedure from here http://www.theacerguy.com/2010/01/upgrade-aspire-5920g-santa-rosa-wireless-to-n/

Hi..I have 5920 version for like 2 years now. Recently I have been having a problem with my internet just shutting off. I know a bit about computers and more about network and internet problems. I KNOW it is my laptop because the internet dies when the Red/Orange Wireless Button/Light goes off. It's not being hit so that it turns off, and it is plugged in. When I hit it to try to turn it back on, it disables it...I hit it again to ENABLE it but the light stays off. I thought maybe it was my power cord, so I tried another one. But it still happens, its sporadic at best(it can go a week with no problems and some days I can restart 2 times in an Hour) and the only way for it to come back on is to restart. This is kind of a pain....any Ideas?

Today, i was working on my ACER 5920 and suddenly the screen went black and the laptop was shutdown. I tried to restart the laptop but it didn't respond. I checked the charger, the light on the charger was blinking when connected to the laptop and was showing continuous supply when not connected to the laptop. Kindly diagnose the problem relating to such circumstances.
Your cooperation in this aspect will be highly regarded.
