Think Microsoft’s boring? Check this out.

For those of you guilty of thinking that nothing interesting comes out of Microsoft, take a look at this video.
In Robert Scoble’s first interview for FastCompany TV, he talks to Curtis Wong and Jonathan Fay from Microsoft Research about Microsoft’s Worldwide Telescope.
It’s not available just yet, but if you’re half as excited by the project as I was at the end of the video, I bet you can’t wait ’till it’s launched…
UPDATE: Just revisited the site and it’s ready to be installed. The site intro says: “WorldWide Telescope (WWT) enables your computer to function as a virtual telescope, bringing together imagery from the best ground and space-based telescopes in the world. Experience narrated guided tours from astronomers and educators featuring interesting places in the sky.” – sounds promising to me

Hey Colin.
Yeah sorry about that.
I was worried too when I saw the length of it but the product (if/when they launch it) is well worth the explanation, although Scoble does get carried away and at one point one of the interviewees actually says “we’re gonna have to drag him away!”.
This isn’t 3 minutes of YouTube rubbish though. It’s an interview with one (two) of the creators of the project.
Then again I’ll sit through anything as long as it’s geeky.
