A bag for the 8920?

Any of you own a Gemstone Blue 8920?
Have you found a bag for it?
In an amazing oversight
, Acer seems to have forgotten that people actually like to lug portable computers around and don’t have a custom bag big enough for it (yet?).
I’ve been getting requests from customers about this and can’t come up with anything. My only suggestion was Timbuk2 but apparently they don’t make one big enough either.
If you have found something big enough for the 8920 can you post it on the comments section here please? It’ll help a lot of people avoid a lot of scratches.

I just purchased the 8920 and i FINALLY found a bag for it after days a searching. its made by the company High Sierra. its a nice messenger bag and it is slim.
but what i would really love most is a sleeve for the computer so if anyone has any idea where i could get a sleeve or where i could order one, that would be great

There is a bag by Targus also calle messenger style that is said to be for a 17 inch that will fit the 8920 albeit tightly. It is the only one I have found to put it in. The biggest drawback to me is that it is not a zippered closure so it is not the best thing on a rainy day.

It will fit in the Targus XXL Notebook Case Model # TCC008EU quite comforably.

Yes i have the Targus XXL Notebook Case retails for about $119 AUD which fits quite nicely and looks fairly good too, theres enough room for your mouse, power choards etc too!!

I bought the Targus XXL bag (NZD$107) for my 8920G about a month ago and have spent hours looking for a replacement bag ever since, having been somewhat shocked by its size when the bag arrived. Sure, it’s big enough; it’s just that it’s a bit too big for my liking, being about 12cm too tall for the Acer. I don’t like the ‘strap in’ mechanism, as the laptop doesn’t fit snugly, and I have resorted to reusing the factory polystyrene packaging that came with the Acer in an attempt to make it more secure (something which looks quite ridiculous when setting the laptop up in a public place). Whilst I appreciate that one cannot expect tailor-made results from a ‘one size fits all’ solution, I am still less satisfied with the outcome. I would be keen to hear of other alternatives known to work with the 8920, as short of Acer making a dedicated bag, options appear to be somewhat limited (if able, I intend to check out the High Sierra bag, and also the Crumpler range).

Just a quick update, I picked up a Targus Citygear LA messenger bag (top loading) today for my 8920 and it’s brilliant! Its rated to take a 16.5″ (41.9cm) wide machine, but it just manages to fit the Acer’s 17.5″ wide chassis, and is much smaller than the Targus XXL bag. Definitely worth a look.

I’m sure they will have one ready, I had the same issue, when I bought the 9810. I had to wait 3 months, but then they sent me a very good looking trolley bag, even has a compass on it (I don’t know why)

I bought the Targus XL backpack and it fits the 8920 perfectly. It has allot of space for all your gear and it’s very comfortable. The chest strap really takes the load off your shoulders. It’s a very good backpack. I had to argue with the sales guy for half an hour if the backpack can fit my laptop. Finally he brought it and voila, it fitted

@NiGhTCrAwLeR
Are you sure the Targus XL backpack Model # TCB001EU will fit the acer? I was thinking of ordering one… but i was too afraid i wouldn’t fit.
Isn’t it hard to close the zipper?

Jamil,
Word back from my friend Peter who works for Staples in Canada.
However… I noticed a couple of people at the global press conference in Budapest today walking around with HUGE Acer bags and if you go to the UK Acer Store site they exist.
I’ll ask later if and when they’re going to make it to the US and Canada.

I ended up walking into a store and started “trying things on” with the 8920.
Ended up the Targus TLE400 fit nicely with the 8920, it is a snug fit but works well and provides room for all the extras and books etc etc.
happy hunting

I am very impressed with you guys, the weight of my aspire 5920 is too much for me already, you guys carry a 8920 with books? or is it 2 strap backpack? my aspire 5920 is using one strap laptop bag.(it fits the laptop and the powercable thats it, rest weight is the protective layer for the laptop.

Have made a comment elsewhere but this seems the more logical place to ask the question….has anyone got any experience of fitting one of these in a Crumpler bag? Really like the style and build quality of the crumplers plus it seems a shame to have such a smart looking laptop in a ugly cumbersome case. In the UK by the way.
Morris Lee wrote, on December 10th, 2008:
I think it is waaaaaaaaaay to big for one of those camera bags you are referring to. Unless you get a really big one… But I can see that aspire one can definitely.
John wrote, on December 10th, 2008:
Well they seem to cater for up to a 17″ widescreen laptop – so just wondering if it might fit with a bit of a squeeze? think the biggest internal dimension they quote for is 42cm x 29cm – i’m just in hope they allow some tolerance and the 44cm x 30cm (think this is right?) gemstone will squeeze itself in there somehow! Maybe will send off for one try it and if its too small send it back – shame the only store i can find that sells them is down in london.

Hi there,
I have found a bag which I think you guys will love. The 8920 fits in comformtably and it has got a front pouch which I use to hold the power supply, a mouse and a passport usb disk.
This case is made by case logic and model code TNC-17. Dont be fooled by the 17″ size. The 8920 fill fit in easily with some room to spare.
Hope that helps.

This may sound crazy but it works. I also have the acer 8920 and couldn’t find a bag. I bought the carry case for the nintento wii fit balance board at toysrus for $34.99 – perfect fit, not bulky and has a handle and shoulder strap!!! great!!!

I found the perfect case for my 8920 for only $20CAN at my local computer shop. The only label on it says “NoteBook” so I have no idea who makes it. It’s black pleather with a handle and shoulder strap. Velcro strap inside to secure the computer and a separate compartment to stow away cables and the adapter. There is also a pouch inside for keeping paperwork.

Haven’t tried any of those. The sony bag looks good but when you look at the specified interior size (43.7 x 3.7-4 x 29cm) I wonder if it fits…and I’m not risking 90$ on it…
Hoping for positive feedback…

i would have prefered a backpack or something slightly smaller. but it gets the job done
