I bought the Aspire one d255 for my son to carry with him when he travels with Grandparents. We have over 500 dvd's. I pulled the codes to a external hd so he could watch them on it, but media player will not play them. Says check screen resolution. It only has two and have tried both. Any tips? My HP netbook plays them fine with dvd decoder.

Hi, today I am looking at an Acer aspire one AO532h to purchase. My main question is if I can download a movie from Netflix to it and watch it. I know I can get a dvd external drive, hook it up and watch a movie that way, but I don't want to fool with that. I simply want to download from Netflix and watch. Please help. Thanks so much.

Never mind...found out that the USB external drive was just a CD ROM drive. Bought a LITEON USB External CD DVD RW Burner Drive hooked it up and played a DVD using free VLC Media Player

Hi Guys,

Need help! Recently purchased a ACER Aspire One D250 with Windows 7 Starter. Purchased a USB External CD DVD RW Burner Drive For Acer Aspire one that will not play DVDs. I installed VLC media player without problems by the DVD drive will not recognized when a DVD is mounted. It keeps asking me to mount a dcdvd. The front light blinks intermitently. I am able to read/write files to a CD without problems. What can you suggest? Thanks a lot.

hey folks...
i bought Acer aspire one D250 few weeks ago. It came with Linpus installed within, but the guy i got it from asked me to install XP. & so did i.
I have installed all the drivers that came in the CD, installed VLC media player also K-lite codec pack.. but my netbooks is horribly slow at times. with firefox running, even playing a .mp3 file becomes an issue.

playback of .avi files is even more horrible, voice stutters, voice lags & i also get blue-screen-with-something-written-in-white-on-it sometimes..

NEED HELP !! is it a software problem or a hardware problem.

any info is appreciated.. thanks

To play youtube videos, you need to update the flash player from Adobe for the Mozilla Firefox. Go to Adobe site at: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

and download the yum for Linux version which loaded fine from the standard GUI package.

YouTube now works fine for me in the browser!

@Clarence Gadowski,

here is a page for the softwares,
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_one_150.html

under Linux Linpus Lite, look for vlc.sh, download and you should be able to install that like cupcake.

if that fails, you can use the official way of installing it. install livna first(google for it) then in terminal type "sudo yum install vlc" without the quotes, and yes to all the answers
