How to reset the CineDash media console on a Gemstone Blue

OK. It happens.
Every now and then, the CineDash media console on the Aspire Gemstone Blue models freezes, turns off, refuses to work, leaves you in locked out of the car in the pouring rain… The causes are endless, but the solution is quite simple.
To reset the CineDash, remove the power cable AND the battery for more than ten seconds.
Tadaa!

Otherwise all I get to say is “Hope I never see you again…”

If it is on, you should be able to find the icon for it at the bottom right corner(looks like a finger pressing a button, pixelated) or in any other case like when you press the bluetooth, wireless, internet(WWW) email buttons then if green OSD(on screen display appears for volume, bluetooth on/off or wireless on/off etc) if you see OSD(green color, usualy in Ariel fonts) then it is on, if it is not, volume will only increase(slowely if you tap the “top” or will go down if you tap the “bottom” of the volume bar(this method is to test if the synaptics are working correctly)
David wrote, on August 13th, 2008:
There is an icon with a finger pressing a button, I hit the bluetooth button on right side and it used to flash on screen with green font but it doesn’t any more. Also when i played music i tapped the cine dash volume at the top and it turned up in steps likewise with volume down. I used to rub finger up and down volume and it turned up/down is there anyway to get it back to that setting with green bars on the osd.

Morris Lee wrote, on October 22nd, 2008:
are you able to see the dvd rom in the device manager? (press Winkey+Pause and click device manager, or run devmgmt.msc) check if you can find your optical drive there, if not, you need to take out the drive and reboot the computer, then slide the drive back in boot your computer up again. this makes sure it is not the connection problem.
if that still does not work, you have to do a factory default, as there is no way(from my knowledge) to uninstall the drive of a certain device when it is not visible to windows.
francisco wrote, on October 23rd, 2008:
hi sam.
i had the same problem with an older laptop. i don’t know if is your case, but in my case was that i pulled the dvd device out of is place when i open it. the result was that my computer didn’t recognize the device.
maybe it got disconnected when it got pulled out too far.
check if the top of your dvd device is in line with the rest. if is not, then push it a little harder in, to make sure that if for some reason has gotten disconnected when you pull it, it gets connected again.
this worked for me.

I’ve tried installing everything in the rar, from the hotfixes (does not apply to my system) to the drivers (which didn’t seem to actually install anything?).

hum…. if you can open Device manager to see if you can find your fingerprint device, see if it is functioning correctly by double clicking on it. if not, then I suppose that driver will not work with it.
maybe you can try using the eReocovery, make sure you have that, launch it, and go to the section where is says “Install driver or softwares” something similar to that.

sudo mousepad /usr/share/search-bar/start-search_bar.sh
just run that whole line into the terminal, and then add nm-applet into one of the line, then it should start next time you reboot(remember to save the file first)
I have no idea about your wired connection problem, it should be controlled by nm-applet that I know of, I think your linpus is really corrupted, I really recommend recover the machine to factory default.

many possibilities for the corruption can occur, maybe some settings was altered and it conflicts with another setting, something went wrong, it just stays wrong.
And yes, if it says you are using root, you should be on the right track, save it with root, yes ignore the message.
Btw, it is Morris “Lee” not “Lea” thanks!
James wrote, on March 24th, 2009:
Right man,
bought a 6935G a while ago and most the time it behaves but recently it’s started being a bugger by doing the following:
- Randomly starting up when the lid is closed, not turning on the display but the hard drive and lights are all flashing and whirring away, before turning itself off again. After this happens the battery is always drained, even if it was full before.
- Even on “hight performance”, often there is a long delay between typing/moving the mouse and the actions being relayed on screen.
- About 50% of the time, when I start it up, a black screen with a small white line appears in the top left hand corner, and it just stays there until I press CTRL+ALT+Delete, which makes it re-boot
- Again about 50% of the time the sub doesn’t turn on and music and video sounds tinny.
- Every now and again the sounds becomes heavily distorted, making Jeremy Clarkson (and anyone else talking) sound like an 80′s style robot.
- Last but not least, Wi-Fi is extremely temperemental and more often than not won’t connect to networks (regardless of whether it’s my home or University one)
Any solutions to these would be greatly appreciated?
Cheers =]

In all honesty, you have too many problems to fix in one go. Simone (Acer tech support) says that the causes and symptoms are too varied to give you any real help so unless Morris can come up with one of his frequent miracles, your only option (and the only one we Acer peeps can hand-on-heart recommend) is for you to send it back to an Acer Repair Center.
Personally I would send it back just for the Clarkson problem…
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Thankyou for the info but this did not work so maybes a Hardware problem, contacted acer and they sent me steps to take ie:
It sounds like it may be advisable to perform a system recovery on your machine to rule out that the problem is a software related one. In order to do so, you will need to launch the Disk2Disk recovery feature (which should be supported by your machine).
This can be initiated by pressing ALT + F10 when the computer is first switched on. You will need to hold down ALT as soon as the Acer splash screen appears, and repeatedly press F10. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts. The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.
This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine. If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.
And this : We have discovered that on some Blu-Ray enabled machines, the pre-installed copy of McAfee Anti-Virus is preventing some Blu-Ray content from playing. This is because McAfee is deleting some of the required files, as it falsely thinks these are “Trojans”.
This could be the cause of your problem, therefore to attempt a resolve; firstly you need to update McAfee using the in-built update function. This should update to Version .5517.
Once this has been done, you will need to re-install Acer Arcade. To do this, open the Acer eRecovery application and select “Re-install Applications/Drivers”. From the list, select “Acer Arcade”.
Once this is re-installed, you will need to open Acer Arcade and download the latest update. There is an “update” option within Arcade, usually found within the “Advanced” or “Settings” menu (depending on your version).
This should update your Acer Arcade to Version 2.0.6010, to check this, click the “About” option.
When you have completed the above, restart your machine, then attempt to play a Blu-Ray movie.
Note: On Gemstone Blue Machines (6920 / 8920 / 6935 etc) Blu-Ray is not supported if you boot straight into the Acer Arcade function outside of Windows

Hi!
Well, now I got my new Acer Aspire 8930G, the first thing I did, was t change the operating system for Windows Vista Enterprise, evverything works fine except the CineDash Media Console.
I’ve got installed Synaptics TouchPad 6.3 Driver.
When the system starts, the cinedash is not synchronized with the operating system in mute / with sound, but when I press the mute button in CineDash, it changes the operating system mute / with sound, but when I try to adjust the volume, it has no effect on the operating system.
Either the play, forward, rewind buttons doesn’t works.
I’ve already shut down the noteook, unplug the energy cable, take off the battery, press the On Button for 10 secs…. nothing happens…
I check for the touch pad driver, and I’m using the factory default, not an upgrade.
Any idea of how can I solve this?
Thanks!

for winamp, you probably still have not enable your global hot key option. Then navigate to C:\Program Files\Launch Manager
find MMKEYBD.CFG, make a backup, then edit the file using notepad. remove lines for key 1 to 5 at the bottom.

Surprisingly, at the beginning of the booting process, the button for the bluetooth unit glows, alltough the laptop has no bluetooth unit. When the Windows loading screen appears, the bluetooth led turns off… Perhaps this is connected to the cinedash problem?
Thanks!

It is opening it up because it is the default media center, you have to either force it in the registry or you can try my patcher for the 5920G series(they should be compatible with each other, but first uninstall the original launch manager and install the launch manager on the 5920′s driver page.) you can find the link in the Expert’s voice

@asdf,
That will recover the entire machine to the factory states, it will for sure work since this is definitely a software controlled selection, it will start the default media center in windows, as if you remove all the 3rd party media center, it will launch the Windows media center instead(removing as in removing the Acer Arcade )

2-I don’t have BlueRay working in Windows 7 64 bits. Instaled Arcade Deluxe. I put in a BD disk, Arcade starts automaticaly, but all i get is a black screen, no movie. Sometime it says something about Nvidea Geforce driver. Any ideas?

1- I think it is possible to make it to 1, but it looks like you have launch manager disabled, with launch manager, it should be possible, I need to get back to you on that
2- Blueray needs the correct driver installed, did you use the driver from laptopvideo2go or donotargue? those thirdparty ones does not work properly with H264 decoding by the graphics chip, go to official nvidia or ati site to get the driver, those should be able to work with hardware decoding on the arcade software.

1-It’s enabled. When i go to TaskManager there is a “LManager.exe *32″ entry. So it should be enabled, rigth?
2-No. I downloaded and installed Geforce driver directly from Acer website, the Vista Ultimate x64 version. Then i installed Arcade Deluxe.
Is the H264 decoder hardware on Geforce chip or software instaled with Arcade?

Hi Morris Lee,
1-I’m talking about the number of bars it apears at bottom of the screen on green OSD.
With IR remote control, i get increments of 1 bar!
If you check directly on the volume, by the tray, it’s equivalent to an increment of 6 (the whole scale from 0 to 100)
With CineDash + / – vol buttons, i get increments of 2 bars at a time, equivalent to 14 in the volume scale 0-100.
That’s no good if you want to set an inbetween level: nor too loud but not too quiet.
2-I’m dwlng Nvidea diver for 9600M GT from their site. I’ll try that and get back to you.
best regards,

Morris Lee wrote, on August 17th, 2009:
@jafre,
I would suggest you uninstall ALL the nvidia drivers then install the newest one from nvidia official site.
the 6 is defined by launch manager, using the following codes in a .reg file will modify the values:
-64 bit
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings]
“Volume Level”=”20″
-32 bit
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings]
“Volume Level”=”20″
The volume level controls the volume sensitivity, I have just played it around, value 20=5% in windows, the higher up the number, the lower the % in windows
eg: 10=10%, 20=5%, 55 will get you 1%, but I am not sure why #55 and the default value is 16
You have to restart the launch manager when you change the value
H264 is from nvidia purevideo technology, it is hardware and driven from correct drivers. Arcade delux(simply Cyblink Power Director I believe) just uses the hardware decoding available on either ATi (Avivo) or Nvidia (PureVideo) to decode HD DVD or Blu-Ray

Then the problem you described COULD BE due to WindowsUpdate file that installs SP1 for .NET Framework 3.5.
Acer’s eRecovery can be afflicted by this Windows 64bit update file and can stop working with a similar issue. BUT ONLY IF THE PRELOAD IS VISTA 64bit.
If you don’t have Vista 64bit, then NTI MediaMaker can check the media capability “Disk Info Tool”. It’s a little “i” on the right border of first NTI screen, the disc with “audio ” / “photo” / “backup” and so on.

So far I manage to install all hardware with 64 bit version drivers from Acer site, altough i didn’t have to because Win7 recognised all hardware and installed its own drivers for everything. So, great! All hardware 100% functional!
But, when it comes to the Acer aplications, it seems to me that altough Acer have them in the 64 bit O.S. section support site, they are not realy 64 bit apps!
I’m talking about:
- Empowering Tools (Acer Empowering Technology Framework, Acer eDataSecurity Management Application, Acer eRecovery Management Application…) and

Could you please confirm that for me?
Perhaps Simone can tell us if Acer have native 64bit versions of these 2 apps.
If not, when will they expect to have them.

I don’t think it is hardcoded, but I am pretty sure it has to do with the synaptics touch pad configurations.
but I can’t make it a real assumption right now, as I have nothing to test on, if acer(or anyone) would donate me a 6920 or 8920 series, I am more than happy to make a patcher for it too.

ACER 8930G UPDATE – following on from my previous post above on the 17th August.
I contacted Acer tech support line and told them about the problem, the alptop wasn’t not reading DVD’s or Blu RAy, only CD’s. They advised a complete system recovery, which I did and it made no difference. They then agreed to take a look, and arranged DHL pick up and re-delivery.
Anyway, my laptops bak within 7 working days. I was told the Acer Arcade Deluxe was upgraded and it was now playing both.
Guess What??? It still faulty, and plays only CD’s. I am furious with Acer, have sent them an email about getting this sorted.
Awaiting response.

Hey guys,
I tried the reset method, taking the battery out etc, but that still didn’t do the trick. It has to do with my computer having some hard drive malfunction, and just got it replaced, meaning that I think the driver is gone. This leads me to my second problem, which is the fact that I can’t seem to the driver for the Cinedash on the Acer website. Real strange.
Anyone have any links/suggestions?
Thanks!

Morris Lee wrote, on September 26th, 2009:
@Vency,
For the “e” button should be under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings\Buttons\P1
for 64 bit ones:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings\Buttons\P1
For the arcade button, just find “My Aspire” rather then the “P1″ entry
To customize them, just change the value in the “Command” string

Hey, thanks for the help, however there’s a little problem. I have aspire 6935G. I tried:
LaunchManager_Dritek_Kilimanjaro_v2.0.00_Vistax32x64_XPx32x64
LaunchManager_Dritek_Kilimanjaro2_v2.0.0.2
LaunchManager_Dritek_Teton2_v2.0.00
All three of them I downloaded about an year ago and. The first one was for 6920G and the last two for 6935. I can’t find any Launch Manager on acer’s webpage now. All three of them put their stuff in the registry at:
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Inventec\LManager\Settings…
The first two only have “My Aspire Off” folder there while the latter has “My Aspire” folder as well. However there was no path for the program that the Arcade button starts. The value of Command in My Aspire is PowerCinema.exe (no path at all). When I changed it to a path it made no difference whatsoever. The path for the program that “P1″ starts (as well as for WWW and E-Mail) is stored in HKEY_USERS. Namely:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1456977698-809869475-1929621072-1000\Software\Inventec\LManager\Settings\Vency\Buttons\P1
In the Buttons folder there there’s only three subfolders – E-Mail, P1 and WWW. I tried adding a new one called My Aspire and changing the My Aspire in LOCAL_MACHINE to be similar to (for example) WWW in LOCAL_MACHINE with no success. After that I took a snapshot of the registry before and after installing LManager. Nowhere in the registry this program writes the path for the Arcade button. So I can say for certain that this path is written somewhere in the files of the program rather than the registry… It’s not in .cfg filed. Any suggestions? Do you want me to send you screen shots to any of the values in the registry to see it for yourself?
Thanks.

Take a look at this:
http://www.acer-ee.com/acer/service.do?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&miu10einu24.current.attN2B2F2EEF=3740&sp=page15e&ctx2.c2att1=6&miu10ekcond13.attN2B2F2EEF=3740&CountryISOCtxParam=EE&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=3729544696
I know it doesn’t have 8930 but it has 8930G. It also doesn’t have drivers for Windows 7 but try the ones for Windows Vista Ultimate x32 or x64 I guess they should work. The application you need is called “Fingerprint”
Morris Lee wrote, on September 27th, 2009:
@Vency,
Sorry, I assumed you have the Dritek version, however, you can try the launch manager for 5920, the usually work across laptops that is released about the same time frame, but make sure you have other launch manager uninstalled first.
Another thing, I am pretty sure that all the options are under the registry, there is only one cfg file in the program folder which just translate the key to something that launch manager understands.
Vency wrote, on September 27th, 2009:

Ok, I’ll try the one for 5920, but Acer have taken all LManagers off their site for some reason. Can you give me a link for Vista (Ult) x64?
Morris Lee wrote, on September 28th, 2009:
@Vency,
The Europe site is more reliable, try it here http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5920.html
Just choose the “LaunchManager_Dritek_v2.0.10″
Vency wrote, on September 28th, 2009:
@Morris
I figured it out
The 5920 LM mixed my buttons even more (the volume for example: up was down and vice versa) so I decided to stick with my version of Launch Manager and I fixed it. However, can you tell me what I need to assign to P1 to make the “e” button change my battery plan?
For anyone who needs it, here’s the solution to the problem: In
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1456977698-809869475-1929621072-1000\Software\Inventec\LManager\Settings\(your accont name)\Buttons
make a new key called “Arcade Deluxe” with the following string values:
Command 0 = 1;(name);(full name)
Command Count=1
Current Command=0
where (name) is whatever you want to see written on the screen for about 3 secs when you press the Arcade button, (full name) is the full name of the file you want to start – with the whole path and everything, you can even link the button with a link file (.lnk)
In
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Inventec\LManager\Settings\Buttons\Arcade Deluxe
add a new String Value:
Multiple Command=1
After that it all works like magic

Hi, I don’t know if anyone can help, but i’m at my wits end. I have an acer 6920G and i just upgraded to Windows 7. Which might i add is a massive improvement on Vista, however i have now encountered a couple of issues. Firstly the fingerprint sensor is not being recognised by the fingerprint Manager. The biometric sensor is listed in the device manager and says it’s functioning correctly, however the Manager just doesn’t want to recognise it, i have tried updating the driver from microsoft, which as were all aware is outdated, but as i don’t know what the make of the reader is, it’s difficult to determine what driver i would need if any. I have tried different versions of the fingerprint manager, but i’m not having much luck them either. Funny thing is, is that it was working perfectly when i first installed windows 7, but after updating various drivers, it appears to have just given up. Second problem is the CineDash, which is none responsive. I have read some of the earlier comments about removing the battery, so I will give this a try. If anyone can offer any advise, would be extremely grateful.

I got the laptop from spain. It was baught by my brother. But it had spanish language pack only. I tried to override the language pack intially, but I got things screwed up in the laptop, so I needed to do the restore. I put my finger print, and my wife’s finger print in the laptop before it was restored.
To make things short, the previous finger prints are still there in my laptop. Right after booting, the finger security software kicks in, and the previous finger prints are still there. How can I wipe those off of my laptop, so I can put new ones.
I have tried deleting the existing finger prints, in the Acer bio securty software, but all I see are my finger prints. My wife’s finger print is not there, but the software still recognizes it.
Please tell me how I can do this.
Thank you very much, in advance, for the help.

Where do I start???
The 8930G notebook I have had for literally 2 days past 12 months, has now funnily enough decided to play up. NOTHING has changed at all, and was working perfectly fine yesterday afternoon. Turned it back on yesterday evening & was working away, when the Volume Slider decided to keep dropping back to 0. No matter what I tried it would not stay up. Same with the system tray sliders, they would go up with the mouse and audio could be heard, but as soon as the slider was released, it would drop down to 0 again.
It has been mentioned that it is driver related, but I don’t believe that as it would do so as soon as the driver was installed if that was the case, not x amount of months down the line.
It is definately hardware related & Acer refuse to speak to me about it because I bought the notebook from PC World (in the UK) and any Acer products bought through them (or any other DSG outlet) have the warranties through the store (and anyone that has had to deal with PC Worlds tech guys will know that they have not got a clue about ANYTHING to do with computer hardware or software). The only thing they could suggest was to run the erecovery and put it back to factory defaults – One small problem in that the images provided on the notebook refused to burn and would fail 100% of the time at around 40% progress on the utility! Acer refuse to send out recovery media meaning that the license key I have paid for is useless on the base of the notebook as it does not work with ANY OEM or Retail version of Vista HP!!!! Which I find strange as every other manufacturers keys work fine with standard OEM versions of the software (such as the Toshiba notebooks I have here and the Sony’s). Another reason why I cannot reinstall to factory is that the original HDD decided to pack up about 2 months ago & I need this machine for business use, so replaced it myself with a new drive from my own stocks (this is how I found out the OEM key off the base doesn’t work with anything other than Acers own pre-installed OS), and ended up installing Win7 HPx86 (64bit version refuses to install even though all the hardware passes the checks & Acer have x64 drivers for the notebook!!!!).
After uninstalling ALL of the Acer software that was on the system & trying the numerous fixes on here, the problem is not resolved (and the slider drops to 0 even in the BIOS so definately not driver related!!!).
Looks like I will be replacing the notebook which means that I hav spent a load of money buying this 8930G in the first place for nothing

If you have problems with either the CineDash Media Console or Launch buttons then you will be happy to hear that the solution for fixing these is easy!
The first thing that you will need to do is install the “Launch Manager” which can be downloaded off the Acer website. Go to http://www.acer.com and click the service support, then driver download. Go to your model. Download the Launch Manager on the acer site. The filename should be “Kilimanjaro_v2.0.00_Vistax32×64_XPx32×64.zip” the version of Launch Manager under the Windows Vista operating system .This will get the Email, Web and Empowering Technology buttons working with their default settings. If you need to change what the buttons do, you can launch the application named “Launch Manager” in the start menu.
Uninstall any previous version of Launch Manager
The solution to my problem was to get the Launch Manager to run in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
Unzip. Explore the new folder and right-click Setup.exe.
To do this go to the Launch Manager Install directory (C:\Program Files\Launch Manager ), right-click on “setup.exe”, select the “troubleshoot compatibility” tab, check the “Troubleshoot program” check box and then click “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”. Then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2”. Then click “Start” program. Now everything should work properly! It will install. But don’t reboot yet!
Now locate and explore the freshly installed folder in your program files directory – (probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager or C:\Program Files\Launch Manager depending on if you are running 64-bit or 32-bit)
right-click on “LManager.exe”, select the “troubleshoot compatibility” tab, check the “Troubleshoot program” check box and then click “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”. Then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2”. Then click “Start” program. Now everything should work properly! It will install.
Reboot and enjoy properly synced volume, and fully functioning buttons.

To Tim, from Feb 20th,
I’d just like to say that this fix is the only one that has worked for me, kudos to you! After clean installing Win7 and downloading Acer’s drivers and LManager v.3, I had the same issue with unsync’ed volume, only extreme high or low points having any effect etc etc, but after using your install method everything works perfectly! Anyone having this problem with the CineDash on Win7 should definately try this one out!

Hi!
I have an Acer Aspire 6935G.
After some blank pixel lines started to appear on my screen, i sent the computer to Acer to replace the screen.
They replaced the screen, keyboard, CineDash console, and Launch Manager buttons (WiFi, WWW, e-mail & Bluetooth).
I was running Windows Vista, and still am, they didn’t format the hard drive.
The thing is, i got the computer back yesterday, and the Launch Manager buttons (WiFi, WWW, e-mail & Bluetooth) and the brightness controls (Fn + side arrows) don’t work anymore…
I already tried uninstalling the Launch Manager and installing the new 3.0.0.2 version, but it still doesn’t work.
Is it possible that the techs at Acer forgot to make some connection when putting the computer back together?
How can i adjust my screen’s brightness without using the “Fn + side arrows” combination?
Morris Lee wrote, on April 24th, 2010:
@Pedro,
There is a possibility that they might have left something, but if your Fn+Left/Right does not control the brightness but the the keyboard fully works, it should only be software problem.
However, you can control the brightness easily if you are in Vista or 7 by simply pressing Winkey+x, this brings up a window for some regular laptop useful features including the brightness control.

@Morris Lee,
Hi! Thanks for the fast reply!
Yes, the keyboard fully works, except the brightness control (Fn + side arrows).
I tried what you suggested (using the Windows Mobility Center). I can adjust the brightness slider, but the screen remains unaffected…
Even adjusting the brightness through the Acer ePower Management produces no effect.
And then there’s also the problem of the Launch Manager buttons (the 4 buttons on the right side of the keyboard that control WiFi, WWW, e-mail and Bluetooth) not working.
The LEDs don’t even light up.
That’s what led me to believe that Acer screwed up when putting it back together… I think some connections may have been forgotten…
Do you have any other ideas i can try?
Thank you very much for your help,
Pedro Macedo

Hey Acerguy, don’t know if you answered this arleady but I got a slightly different problem with the cinedash media console.
I have got the 8920G and often it lags, if two programs try to access the soundcard. So i tried to turn off some programs related to the sound (like realtek HD controller) after i did this, the media console first didnt work at all. So i turned the program back on again. Now the problem is: if i try to raise the volume, it only raises it by 2 points, and only if i press exactly on the “+”, if i try to raise it by sweeping over the lines nothing happens.
If I press the “+” it raises the volume to “16″ and then the bar is full. I can continue raising the volume, by pressing the “+” and the bar stays full.
I want it to be like it was in the begining.
Like 16 points per click on the “+”
Hope you can help

Hi guys. I am afraid my problem although not at all relative with the cine dash function is much more serious than that. Lets start from the beginning.I have an acer aspire 6920g. The laptop belonged to my brother and he gave it to me a year ago. I wanted to enter the bios functions and i couldn’t because it had a password. So i downloaded a wipe bios program and i executed it from windows in order to wipe the password. When i restarted the laptop the screen went blank and ever since nothing happens no matter all my efforts to restore it in its previous condition. The backlight is open, the cine dash controls lighted but thats as far as i can go.I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide.

hi, i was wondering where i can find the Cinedash driver. i cant seem to find it on the acer site. the sound no longer responds to the main volume but only works with programs and the play buttons dont work unless i have a program active. I am running a 6920g with Windows 7 and the cinedash hasnt worked properly since installed the new OS.

Hi,
Wanted to say thanks for this tip. I have a 6935G and the Cine dash console locked up a while ago. Silly me thought I’d try the Acer tech support route. BIG MISTAKE! After many and varied suggestions from “the professionals” which generally revolved aroud “restore everything and you’ll be Ok” and guess what, nothing made any difference. I decided that if a reload was needed I may as well upgrade to Windows 7. Still no Cine dash. Search on Google and found your site, two minutes later all is fine!! How come those dumb idiots at Acer untechnical support didn’t know this?? Guess we will never know!!
Thanks again, don’t know why I didn’t Google first of all.

Hello. I’ve tried this method and it worked too. Howewer in my case for it to be stable I had to update bios to v 1.13.
But even now CineDash has lights off if I turn on my notebook on battery. Then it helps when I press button shaped like a man. Then it turns/lights on.

David, are you aware of if your launch manager is also on and working? they are suppose to work together, I realized this from testing it at local store with display model of 8920, cause I never liked OSD”
OMG, I didn’t think it would have anything to do with that! Thank dude, I’ve been looking for the same problem time after time; you’ve been a great help! Blesssss

Thanks for the tip on resetting the cinedash. I’ve had my laptop for over a year and it’s a bobby dazzler, except for having to return it to Acer to fix the cinedash.
Your tip worked first time and I can now chill!
Many thanks

I upgraded my system to windows 7 and loads of my system no longer works.
Finger print recognition and cinedash consol are main two. it is an ASPIRE 6920G.
I made a recovery but did it to a external hard drive as that was 1 of the options and i thought it would be safer but when i got in touch with acer they told me it will only wrk if on disk which i think should be said when you go to make a backup.
Is there any way to get a recovery disk or get it back to factory settings???

My sound disappeared a few days ago. I tried the tips suggested for Cinedash several times but nothing changed. My Launch Manager was working and iPod music played but no other music. In the end I resorted to the Windows help system and used the troubleshooter to identify the sound problems and now it works. I also had the CineDash Media Console get stuck in an off position where no touches had any effect. I never found out what caused it but it came back of it’s own accord and has worked ever since. Maybe I unplugged it at some stage and that reset it.

I have an acer aspire 6935G and recently went to windows 7 ultimate 64bit. I’ve tried reinstalling launch manager (in compatibility mode with vista sp2) and the battery/ power cord removal method but the volume/ mute on the cinedash console will maybe work once then it won’t work. The lights on the console move (and green font on the screen showing the increase/ decrease in volume appears) but it the volume doesn’t do anything. Is there another solution you could suggest?

Hi, I got an 8920g and my cinedash stop working a few days ago (apparently for no reasons).
I tried all, remove battery, reinstalling launch manager, but nothing worked, my cinedash still not react to my finger.
There is anything else I should try before resetting to factory the notebook (it’s quite annoying).
cheers
