Hello everyone.
You may have noticed one or two changes. And stuff that looks like it doesn’t work.
In the rush to get the new and improved site up and running, there are some “gaps” that still need to be filled. Be patient. I’m working on them. In the meantime, don’t stop posting and replying…

Hey Ferry,
Thanks for the support. It’s gonna take me a while to get everything working the way it should but at least it’s up.
Watch this space…

Ohhhh, never mind, I just gotta do CTRL+F5 to check for new cache for the page, working now, love the new site, loads pretty fast.
Just wondering, who did the picture on top of this page?(the character that is smiling)

Btw, the acer aspire one fits perfectly in a kata 3n1 rucksack. i should video it actually – i bought the laptop to fit into it!

where is the avatar photo taken from?
Michael Walsh wrote, on December 10th, 2008:
Hey Ferry,
If you look at the replies without an avatar, you’ll see what looks like an upturned G. It’s the symbol for GRAVATAR (http://www.gravatar.com/) which is a free plug-in I asked to use that recognizes the mail you include in your posts and provides an avatar.
It might work across other platforms though, so if you’ve signed up with your mail account to another service which allows you to upload a picture, it fishes that out. I’ll have to ask.
You can (should) be able to change it by logging in (or signing up).

The Avatar photo is taken from Gravatar.com. If you log into http://www.gravatar.com you can upload your own avatar. Its a really great service that anyone can use.

@Morris,
The character at the top of the page was done by the website designers.
The story behind it is that this site is going to be more about you (the community) and less about me (Michael).
So the idea, when I discussed the site design with the designers, was to create a character to represent the “Guy” in the title of the site. It’s based on me but isn’t me (I’m not blonde!).
That way other people (you, Ferry, Peter for now and anyone else who comes along in the future) can step in and fill some of the roles this site has opened up (expert voices, product reviews, forum moderation – coming soon..), while still leaving a titular “Guy” in charge.
At some stage I’m gong to using him on the famous T-shirts I’ve been promising. The ultimate in Acer geek-moda??

Hi Phil,
Thanks for stopping by. I know you’ve been here before but I’ve only just put the pieces together and figured out you’re the guy I followed on Seesmic for a while, because you were the ONLY English guy there.
Guys, check out Phil’s site(s?) and check out the Aspire One review too (when’s the Mac OSX install coming Phil?) – there’s some great widgets and functions Phil uses on his sites that I’d like to bring to this table at some point. Thanks Phil!

@Michael,
Ahh, I see, that is pretty good picture that they have done.
