@Prue,

I just looked through, there does not seem to have such option to make backup disks, you can always make one from a 3rd party utility. great one I would recommend is Aronis

Thanks for the help. I would have felt happier to have back up CD's - just in case ... any way of doing this?

@Prue,

You don't need to create recovery disks, you can use the eRecovery whenever something goes wrong or if you just want to go back to factory defaults.

to use eRecovery, Press Alt+F10 on startup(where you see the acer logo)

I have just bought an Acer Aspire One running XP. Do I need to make back up recovery cd's? If so, where do I go to get started - no specific help in the Acer eRecovery. I was told I needed to buy an external DVD drive so I could burn the CD's... but maybe this isn't necessary and I could return it..

@Dave Goodman,

I am assuming you could, but then again, it might be used for temporary files when you are doing the recovery. Unless you are wishing that you will never use the eRecovery, then you can try changing it.

and if you ever need to use it again, you need to rebuild the MBR, the installation files are in the PQSERVICE somewhere, when you install it, you need all the partition orders exactly the same as now
