@ John:

Thanks for your post.

But to be honest.. What is the purpose of it. Showing off that you know better or is it something else.

It is fine ot ask questions or better even provide help/alternatives. But then write a tutorial for people how to do it.
Because most avarage computer/windows users don't have, know or know how to use the software you mention.
So just stating in your post what you re saying doesn't help anybody. (besides you need windows for both steps 3 and 4)

It feels a bit like you re trolling this tutorial and posts from everybody. 'Ow I know a different /better method' (but not saying why one would or how to do it).

(I hope I'm wrong, I foten am :-))

Now to your questions:

Yes there is a way to put the rivers in place manually, how is being described there, but you have to use the mentioned (in that step) -.ini file for it.

If you mean something else, then please elaborate your question more.

All of the steps except #4 can be done outside of Windows, say while using a UBCD4Win or Bart's PE. Is there a way to process step # 4 manually.... putting all the driver components n the right place manually? This would be for repairing damage from a virus.

thnx for the comment sismak.
Might i add... you don't have to shout (I mean, don't use caps to point out somebodys mistake pls, in forum atiquette it's a bit rude)

You're right btw, but you're also not right. It also works because the driver iastor.sys should be places in you ...\system32\drivers\ automatically. It should work anyway, if you follow the tutorial.
And it did, considering I did and also it worked for everybody else here.
Adding to that... if it didn't for some reason, then I'm glad it worked by putting the driver there manually.

Glad some people think for themselves. It is how I figured this out myself also, and created the tutorial.

1 REALLY BIG MISTAKE, I FOUND IT, AND FINALLY WORKS!!!

When copying the driver to the route:
C:/Windows/system32
the correct route is
C:/Windows/System32/drivers

Look at the command lines of the registry, there it says to find the driver in that route /drivers.

Really thankful for your help, althought this web is not uptaded anymore.

@ John:

Hi john, I wrote the tutorial. The registry moderation only works correctly for an Intel chipset. You might be able to aply the same steps for another chipset. But you will have to find and edit different strings in the registry.

I don't have the time myself anymore to figure it out for every different chipset manufacturer. I doubt that it would work for every different brand of chipset because the Registry string the ini-file of the installation would add to the registry is not the same for every brand and model of chipset manufacturer.

In theory it might work what you want. But how i wrote this specific tutorial, it only works for an Intel chipset.
