Anyone spot the new kid on the block?

There have been so many leaks, snippets and pictures published already about the 10″ Aspire One, I’m kinda arriving late to the party but here it is anyway.

If you want to know what I was doing in the last half of the London Kick off, I was rewriting the press release to this which you can find in full here. And no I’m not responsible for the error about halfway down.

OK. Let’s sort something out first. Why isn’t it called the Aspire Two? Well Aspire One is what’s called the marketing name and Acer’s netbooks are all going to be called Aspire One (think BMW), no matter how big or small they get. The 10″ model goes by the very glamorous code of: AOD150.

Second up, the rumors are true. It’s Windows XP® Home only. Don’t ask me coz I don’t know and even if I did I might not necessarily agree.

So the headline news for this new netbook is: 10-inch screen, Windows XP, integrated Bluetooth and 7 hours battery life (optional 57.7 W 5200 mAh 6-cell Li-ion battery pack – otherwise with the standard 3-cell, you get 3 hours).

Size-wize it’s not that much bigger than the 8.9″ model and weighs just 1.18 kg.

- 8.9″ (Linux) = 249 (W) x 170 (D) x 29 (H) mm (9.8 x 6.7 x 1.14 inches)
- 10.1″ (XP) = 260 (W) x 185 (D) x 33.4 (H) mm (10.2 x 7.28 x 1.31 inches)

It’s available in four colors including white, blue, red and black and if you head off over to my Flickr page, there’s a bunch of official pictures for you to have a look at.

Cool, sure. But wait to you see what’s coming next…
