eRecovery is a very good feature Acer provides to reduce headache because of losing files, settings, or virus attack. BTW, having frequent backups can occupy a huge amount of HDD. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a feature to move user backup to another HDD partition or External Storage as well as Network Drive. The only way to move User Backups is by burn it to DVD/CD. Even though DVD has longer life than HDD, it is a bit risky for very important data since losing a disc (i.e. bad burning) means losing the whole backup.
Here are the steps when you want to move the existing User Backups to another partition in your system or External Storage as well as Network Storage:
1. Make sure you see the hidden folder that stores the eRecovery data. It is “erData”, usually located in D partition.
2. Move the “erData” to your external storage.
3. Now open the eRecovery manager, you will see that you can now find the backup is in the external drive instead.
4. (optional) Create new backup using eRecovery to make current system image. It will recreate the “erData” folder in the D partition with new backup inside.
Note:
* You can also rename the “erData” folder in the external storage so you can make another backup of “erData” folder in the future.
** Remember that eRecover will only read data from “erData” folder, so if you renamed it, you will need to rename it back to “erData” when you need to read it from eRecovery manager.
