Hands up… How many of you laughed when Gianfranco Lanci said Acer would soon become the world’s second-biggest PC brand?
It’s OK. I’m sure many people inside Acer thought the same, although they wouldn’t if they’d actually met the guy.
There’s an interesting article published on 15th April by Gartner that shows just how close we are to reaching that goal.
The article goes on to say
“Dell and Acer finished the quarter in a virtual tie for the No. 2 position in the worldwide PC market; they are separated by just 0.1 percent points. Dell was generally weighted down by its heavy reliance on the professional market, while Acer experienced a significant shipment increase fueled by low priced mobile PCs in EMEA and the U.S.”
0.1%… Now that’s a close call.

I ma having a huge problem with my gateway computer, now Acer computer, and a warranty that was paid for all to no avail.
Do you have contact information for Mr. Gianfranco Lanci?
Any help would be greatly appreciated…

Isn’t it strange that “Others” has more than 40% of the market.
And yes. Acer is the people’s choice. Great computers at a reasonable price. I haven’t seen a new Dell in a long time. All of my friends have Acer.
