I went to a new store called firefly electronics at the Granville skytrain station opposite to st regis and they have other models of the acer timeline with the su9400 chip instead of the su2700 chip that staples bestbuy and futureshop is selling.

@Rob
I opted to purchase an extended warranty on my Acer from Future Shop. I generally don't buy those, but I thought being able to take my computer in to the store for any necessary repairs for the next 3 years would be preferable to dealing with the manufacturer directly and worth the extra payout in terms of preserving my sanity. Here's hoping I don't have to test that theory...

BUYER BEWARE, I hate to be negative, but I won an ACER One computer and up until recently I haven't had any problems. My only complaint was with the arrogance inbred into the ACER Company culture. Any calls for any types of enquires have always ended with contact the seller.

6 months of ownership has now ended with the BIO's System failing. Yes it under warranty, but I would have to send it and pay for the shipment. I instead elected to attend the nearest ACER Center to have it repaired. While waiting in line for Customer Service we had the opportunity to speak to many others in line. There were about 10 people in the room and everyone is or has experienced this same failure. Obviously their arrogance or self righteous approach is catching up with them. You can’t live on you name forever. We are in the market for a new desktop computer and server. Just take a guess who we will be bypassing in our search!

@Theresa,

You shouldn't have to worry too much if it is just the tasks you have mentioned above. gaming and image/movie editing will however require a better CPU.

Any idea when they will the dual core version available with the SU9600 processor, or at the very least the - Solo core SU3500?
How capable do you feel the SU2700 Solo is? I would be using this as my main computer, for Office applications, web surfing, watching and downloading movies, music, etc.
I have already purchased mine with 4GB Ram and 320 MB, but I'm debating if I should return it and wait for the dual core SU9600, or at least the SU3500?
Would love to get your thoughts...

I live in Vancouver, Canada and just called Staples to ask if they had the 13 inch model of the Timeline series. The person I spoke to said they only had the 15 inch one and didn't seem to know if or when they would get the others in. Do you know of any stores in Vancouver that have the 13 inch model on display? I'd really like to take a look at it in person.

The looks and feel are nice, also a realy compact, and dare i say 'solid', design and the new style keyboard is WAY better then the old one's. But, no real performance hardware here for serious gaming and stuff, if you should need it.
