OK, this is beginning to resemble a corporate broadcast outpost and as I’m a little uncomfortable with that title, this will be the last post of this kind for a while. Maybe.
Particularly as it comes immediately after my last piece on Gianfranco Lanci.
Anyway, today’s accolade comes from the “leading mobile-technology magazine” Laptop Mag which has just published its list of the 25 Most Influential People in Mobile Tech which – you guessed it – now includes Gianfranco Lanci.
The section about him discusses his meteoric rise at Acer, the company’s market share growth, the Gateway acquisition, and Acer’s success in the netbook category, not to mention a really useful snippet of information on Lanci’s personal interests. Now I’ll know what to talk about during those embarrassing silences in the elevator…
No use hiding now, we’re in the limelight. Is everybody listening???

“Pride goes before a fall”
It nice to “be the bast” but whats next when you get where you want to be?
Acer is pushed as a brand, not as a good product, in the end this will bite you in the ass…
Look at the other brands that where on top, are they still going strong?? NO, they fell, with all the consequences for the people who helped getting there.
But, for the time beeing, thumbs up!!

@Lianfranco Ganci very astute – maybe – except you’re limiting your thoughts to “relative positioning”. Google doesn’t think of the competition, it just pumps out great product after great product (have you seen “Wave”?) and offers first class service (we GOT the first in case you haven’t noticed, and are working on the other).
When you’re number one, you got higher standards to keep up. End of story.
