The Acer Guy does Facebook

After some serious trials and tribulations – it was much easier than I thought in the end – TheAcerGuy makes its debut on Facebook.
According to Facebook’s TOS, a Page has to have 25 fans before you can register the name (facebook.com/theacerguy) so the first thing I’ve got to ask you is to head off over there and become a fan.
I’m not too sure about the validity of Facebook in terms of “geting The Acer Guy message out” and whether or not it’ll actually help us as a whole but I’m willing to give it a try and see.
If any of you have any suggestions as to how we could use it then I’m all ears. The page is as much yours as it is mine anyway…

@Faceb00k… *sigh, M’kay I’mma add Y’all to fasebuuk as a show of support for T.A.G.
Just hopes this doesn’t backfire on me.
Btw, do you fella’s IRC much?
got a channel?
Michael Walsh wrote, on November 13th, 2009:
@Daemon and the rest of you.
We did it! 25. But… as with all the best paid plans…
Yesterday I tried to start the TAG page on FB and registered the name. That wasn’t working because you have to do it through a personal page so I canceled the account.
But it seems FB doesn’t cancel the registration which means facebook.com/theacerguy isn’t available.
Sh**!!
Anyone know if there’s a time limit before they release it or have any suggestions for another name?
Daemon, no probs man, you can always leave if we lose our edge
IRC You kidding? I don’t know about everyone else but I work with peeps all over the planet with ZERO extra time (which goes here anyway). If I start chatting to y’all it’s over.
:-p

We do 60K visits a month and we have just 40 fans? So that’s like 2% of all traffic… (sigh)
TechieDiva wrote, on November 14th, 2009:
give it some time. TAG didn’t get that traffic overnight.

First of all, I must say that the topic name for this thread is pretty funny
Follow the link below for tips on how to permanently delete the Facebook account. The key is not to login into your FB account 14 days after the deletion.

BTW the first part of the first line of your post is also hilarious under the context of the topic name.
People and organizations have started using Facebook and other social networking sites to promote their causes/brands. The idea is to keep the pages open so anybody can access it. As an example, check out the link below. It’s a group on Facebook that hates Acer so the FB account simply promotes Acer bashing. The link appears in Google Search results for Acer Sucks!

Anyways, you can leverage Facebook presence to promote your TAG Web site projecting it to be a community-driven support site for anything Acer with your existing members posting testimonials on the wall. Just an idea for starters. It’s a simple online branding strategy for the acer guy.

@Shashi As the guy who came up with this (and got it approved) this was nothing
Great advice on the strategies – will definitely use them all…
