Game reviewers wanted

This is the formal continuation of a thread I started over on TheAcerGuy’s Facebook page.
The idea is to get the Reviews section of the new site off to a flying start with reviews of Acer hardware, useful accessories and great games. Right now, as many of you know, there’s a technical problem that’s preventing me from getting hardware over to (and back from) the US, where the majority of my reviewer volunteers are located. But the other two sections are outside this red tape so here’s what I had in mind to start off with.
1. First we form a list of reviewers (max 5 but I’m feeling a little generous right now).
2. We publish a wish-list of games you want to try.
3. I buy them for you and mail them to your home address
4. You do a full review complete with analysis, images (screenshots) and if possible videos and mail them to me
5. I publish the reviews
6. You keep the games
There is a deliberate goal to this as well as method and I want to make it clear right from the start:
Game reviews along with hardware and accessory reviews will increase traffic to this site. My goal here is to raise awareness of the site for all aspects of computing with Acer products in order to maximize the efficiency, reach and returns on the charity Causes I’m about to launch. Remember: more awareness = more traffic = more revenue.
The other element I’m keen to stress is that there will be affiliate links selling these games I’m offering to you and I will receive a commission on any sales. That money will help finance this site (hosting and update fees) but very little else.
My original idea (which I’m still open to discuss) was to split the proceeds 50:50 but in reality it’s probably not worth it for the reviewers plus I’d want the games back
.
This way I think we all stand to gain.
Whaddya say?

I like your thought process and common-sense thinking: “more awareness = more traffic = more revenue”
Your model seems reasonable, and especially with charity involved, I’m happy to participate.

@Michael,
Wonderful! However, 50:50 is almost impossible for you, I think you get 100% commission, since we get to keep the games
Even if we don’t, if through steam, it is secured to the account it is being given to
http://www.steampowered.com/
if it is not using steam, most likely, it will use SecuRom, which only allows the game license to be installed only certain amount of times unless uninstalled properly through internect connection with correct registration(a lot pain)
That is the PC gaming world for you
With my experiences in games, programming, troubleshooting softwares, and the love for storyline games provide, I certainly would like to take part of this action!

Hopefully, you will note get sued for burning down houses worldwide
Little joke there, referring to the fact that Predators sometimes catch fire if put under pressure… but hopefully all the game reviewer had their Predator checked before testing games

Fingers crossed.
But don’t over-stretch the term “sometimes”. There have, as documented by Engadget, been only two incidents out of just 215 machines sold during a specific time period and Acer did initiate a total recall just to be sure that number was the final one.
It’s an extreme machine and this was a design hitch they rectified publicly.
Anyway, that’s not the spirit of the initiative. My idea is to ignite interest in games on Acer computers, not people’s houses…

Michael,
I agree with Morris but if you are feeling generous, who are we to stand in your way of wanting to part with your money?
I would also like to assist you with reviewing games on my Acer 6920.
Let me know exactly what the TAT is for the review and the standard sections we will provide.
Regards,
Chris Chester

Interesting idea. Morris brought up a good point about Steam. Steam is a great platform, and has a game “gifting” facility, but often the latest games which I presume are going to be reviewed are often overpriced so as not to upset retail.
I’ve bought over 50 games this Christmas on steam during their Holiday Sale. Can’t imagine how I’m going to get through them…Not sure if Steam has an affiliate program. I think it unlikely.
I’ve no time to review games at the moment, but I’d like to see some passionate reviews by Acerguys.
