The Acer 8 hour contest has just closed and the first phase winner chosen.

If you don’t remember what this is all about, it’s a “creative competition” to win more than $20,000 in fabulous prizes, including an Aspire Timeline, a stylish Lucian Piccard watch, a Microsoft XBOX 360, a Microsoft Zune, and $1,000 in cash…

The first phase winner is Tim Ackermans, an aspiring children’s book writer and part-time actor from Skokie, Ill.. Tim’s two-minute video, which received more than 22,000 views on the Acer website, is titled “Acer 8 Saves the World” to creatively show its eight-plus hours of battery life.

Unfortunately, the entry has been pulled from YouTube due to a false claim of Copyright infringement. We’re working with YouTube to get the Copyright issues worked out… Oops…

Anyway, Tim’s winning entry, along with many other videos, will be included in a second phase of the Acer Eight-Hour Contest in categories including Most Viewed on You Tube; Most Promoted; Most Viewer Comments; and Most Favorites. Each category winner will receive prizes including Acer Aspire Timeline laptops, X-Box 360, Xbox Games and 120Gig ZuneMP3 Players, along with additional cash awards. Judging for the second phase of the competition will be done by the world — the internet audience — with the deadline of April 10, 2010.

Honorable mentions include these two: funny as heck!
