The Acer Guy is the nighttime alter-ego of Michael Walsh, a web strategist, community builder, freelance copywriter, SEO consultant and all-round nice guy with a thing for the IT sector.
Let me set the record straight right now: This is not an official Acer blog, although if you search the web, it’s the closest thing there is.
For the past 10 years, I have been the copywriter for Acer, working side by side with a really special group of marketing creatives, with the some-times daunting task of putting words and images to the thoughts and demands of senior management.
For Acer, I write most of the brochures or flyers you see in the store, although that’s just a small part of what I do. I have also come up with a few product names that have been reviewed on this site, and now that Gateway and Packard Bell have joined the family, I’m also involved with them, albeit on a much smaller scale.
This blog is a way for me to overcome the physical, strategic and budgetary constraints of traditional marketing and share some of Acer’s expanding world, tell you more about its products, its people, its philosophies and whatever else I can legally (and ethically) lay my hands on. It’s also a place where you can rant, rave or ridicule Acer as well as share your own knowledge and experiences through the Expert Voices and Forum sections.
What it isn’t is an Acer service forum. That is unless someone volunteers for the job… Acer has more than enough call centres located across the world and I do not want to open another.
I am lucky to have met some wonderful and generous people through this site and they too are Acer Guys. In fact, as far as I’m concerned, anyone who adds to community and the conversation is The Acer Guy. That’s why I recently redesigned this site with the Expert Voices and Forum sections.
While a part of me is reluctant to do this, I have a legal obligation to protect Acer from any unintentional wrongdoing so I hope you will understand the following disclaimer:
Any opinions expressed in this blog and in any corresponding comments are the personal opinions of the original authors, not of Acer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Acer.
