Acer’s reliability rating… What do you think?

While I was writing that last article on Acer overtaking Dell to become the world’s second largest PC vendor, I scrolled down the comments to the Engadget article and came across this one from Dest.

OK, it’s his opinion and as he says in his post it’s subjective, but I think this comment needs to be published and maybe discussed a little further but The Acer Guy readers.

Acer overtakes Dell as world’s number two PC vendor

Who’d have thought I’d be sitting here in my creative bunker writing this post so soon after my last one?

Well, obviously Gianfranco Lanci did as he’s been dropping hints everywhere.

If you take a look at this chart from those number crunchers over at Gartner, you’ll notice that something very important has happened:

The 2009 Global Press Conference

You see it just wasn’t gonna happen…

It’d be great to have enough time to actually see some of the events you help create but while the senior management were strutting their stuff and answering some very intelligent questions form the journalists in London last week, I was busy putting the finishing touches to no fewer than 9 different projects.

But for those of you (like me) who didn’t make it, and want to know what was said, here’s a selection of videos I’ve just been pointed to.

Oh, and FWIW I still have those 9 projects on my desk…

New video of the Ferrari One netbook

Just saw this video of the new Ferrari One netbook from the guys at notebooks.com. Now I’ve seen them (I wrote the brochure dammit!) and I’m also getting one in a few weeks and I’ll film it for you but until then, or until someone else puts up another video, here’s the best review I’ve [...]

I clicked and discovered that there’s [...]

Well it’s a lot better than “Kevin Pereira Wears Lady Gaga”….

Win an Aspire Timeline!

OK, I admit it: I’m taking this straight off the page of PR Web.

Acer’s New Video Contest Celebrates its New Aspire Timeline Notebook ‘Show Us What You Can do with Eight Hours Plus of Power?’

In what promises to be its most exciting National video competition yet, Acer is inviting consumers to illustrate, through their own original short film entries, what they’d do with the creativity, versatility and freedom the new Acer Aspire Timeline Notebook gives them with its unparalleled eight-plus hours of power from a single charge.

LL Cool J and…

Here’s one I bet you never expected to see. LL Cool J, yes, the LL Cool J, has been spotted on the on the debut episode of NCIS: Los Angeles with an Aspire Gemstone. Anyone who guesses which Aspire it is – or knows what LL Cool J stands for – gets some of his [...]

Acer and Trees For Life

I was just looking through the Acer Australia site looking for contact details for one of The Acer Guy readers and stumbled across this. Before you start sending me questions about where and when, this is the first I’ve heard of it so maybe it’s related to an Acer Australia initiative which, if true, puts [...]

A fix for blue ray drive problem

Just a quick post to thank Paula Sutton who just wrote to me with this solution for the problem she was having getting her laptop to “see” her optical drive. In addition to solving this particular issue, this Acer FAQ page might also provide some answers to other issues you may run up against so [...]
