And the result?

All in all I’d say yesterday was a great day.
The project I’m working on is absolutely huge and the “brand guidelines” – meaning naming, brand philosophy, colour choice and icon usage etc., is right at the very start because if you don’t know what you’re building, you’re going to get stuck very quickly.
Fortunately this part went very smoothly and everyone welcomed…
Here today. Home tomorrow.

I find myself sitting in a very quiet, yet highly productive office I cannot name in London. I’m not actually part of anything going on here right now but I’m part of the caravan trailing through this city today meeting a bunch of agencies and suppliers on possibly the most interesting project Acer has ever undertaken.
Gianfranco Lanci on smartphones

It’s not every morning you get to sit down with Gianfranco Lanci before he has breakfast and grill him on the subject of smartphones but that’s exactly what Michelle Caruso-Cabrera from CNBC did when she met up with him at the closing ceremony of the Vancouver Olympic Games on her way to the CTIA Wireless [...]
The Olympics, Acer and a whole lotta people

Have you guys been following the Winter Olympics? It’s been getting some pretty good coverage where I’m from but the time delay (Vancouver’s 9 hours behind where I live) is making it hard for me to be a regular.
Which is a shame as there’s something about the Olympic Games (both winter and summer) that make them both a really special. I like the fact that they mix competition and sportsmanship, national pride and cultural equality and that every now and then they produce some truly unexpected heroes.

Check out this brand new video from the guys from Netbook News.
They’re in Barcelona at the Acer stand at the MCW right now and this is a pretty good review of the Acer Aspire One 532G, the first 10-inch Netbook with Intel Atom N450 and NVIDIA Ion 2.
Basically with these two little gizmos, we’ll start [...]

January – and the best part of February for that matter – was one hell of a month.
It started out of course with the Global Kickoff in Rome where we had to kit the hotel out, prepare all promotional material including stands, showcases, no fewer than 5 videos, too many press releases to count and a make sure everyone’s presentation was squeaky clean.
Then immediately afterwards, we had to start working on the 7 new smartphones due to be presented at MWC in Barcelona. Seven? I thought there were only four new ones… That’s right – three got canned but only after I’d written the web texts. Grrrr…

No I’m not there.
But I know a man who was.
John just sent me an update on the Acer Aspire 5738D 3D notebook in the Last Gadget Standing competition.
And we did better than you’d think…
“The Acer made the distinguished top ten at CES Last Gadget Standing. Although the Acer notebook didn’t win, the prestige of being [...]

The Acer 8 hour contest has just closed and the first phase winner chosen.
If you don’t remember what this is all about, it’s a “creative competition” to win more than $20,000 in fabulous prizes, including an Aspire Timeline, a stylish Lucian Piccard watch, a Microsoft XBOX 360, a Microsoft Zune, and $1,000 in cash…
The first phase winner is Tim Ackermans…

Dear Michael,
I’ve been so busy picking up rubbish that I haven’t had time to fill you in on those busy weeks leading up to the event. The cleanup was a great success and now it’s time to tell you about how we made it happen. It all started with mapping the rubbish…

Earthrace – the new challenge.

Remember my involvement with the Earthrace initiative? Well first of all, here’s what Earthrace has become:
The reason I’m writing is that we’ve finally managed to start the bureaucratic ball rolling and are leaping through hoops of fire to try and get them some Acer Timeline notebooks in time for departure.
Getting Acer involved in this is no ordinary feat. The Acer Guy will always be a safety net for any involvement in this but you’ve got to admit this is one hell of politically charged mission: In Pete’s own words, “there will certainly be some risks involved and hopefully we will come back in one piece“. You can just imagine the looks on the faces of the suits in Acer when this proposal lands on their desk for approval later on today.
