I’ve been dropping hints since August when I wrote the minisite web content and penned the first draft of the launch presentation but no-one got it. Acer this week launched what I boldly called “the world’s most exclusive netbook”, The Ferrari One. OK, I don’t have any official pictures (yet) but Trusted Reviews got to [...]
Terminal man uses an Aspire Timeline

Just got wind of an internal mail about Wired’s Terminal Man – aka Brendan Ross.
Who? Well in someone else’s words: “This month, Wired will feature a column from a new contributor aptly dubbed “Terminal Man.” Terminal Man will be traveling continuously for the next month using JetBlue’s unlimited travel pass. Wired (foolishly?) purchased the pass for him, requiring that he fly or stay in airports continuously for a month and then write about his experiences.”
Why oh why am I writing about this here?

I recently noticed an interesting new e-mail signature from Acer employees from the US with links to a Twitter and Facebook pages, and being the inquisitive type, just had to click and find out more. Dig a little deeper over on the Marketwire site and you find that Acer US is offering K-12 scholls the [...]

Just read an interesting article over on Taiwan News but the same news has also been covered on the Los Angeles Times that Acer is about “to move into televisions and electronic books within five years”.
In an interview on Tuesday, founder Stan Shih said that “The PC actually is a mature industry, but PC extending to TV, of course, there’s room.”
Now it’s interesting for two reasons:

OK, this is beginning to resemble a corporate broadcast outpost and as I’m a little uncomfortable with that title, this will be the last post of this kind for a while. Maybe. Particularly as it comes immediately after my last piece on Gianfranco Lanci. Anyway, today’s accolade comes from the “leading mobile-technology magazine” Laptop Mag [...]
“Acer just came from nowhere…!”

On 27 June, the New York Times published a very interesting article on the rise and rise of Acer.
The article focuses on the man of the moment, Gianfranco Lanci, who I’ve had the privilege of working with for over ten years. One of the most fascinating things about Gianfranco is just how down-to-earth the man is. And also how funny. I’ve been at conferences until 2 or 3 in the morning the night before the main event writing and re-writing management presentations and at that hour he’s the only guy in the room with enough energy to crack a few jokes.

I love it when there’s a communication breakdown.
Apparently the other day a journalist rang the marketing department asking for info on the 3D notebook models Acer had just presented at Computex.
The what??
Anyway, peel away the Chinese walls and you’ll find this gem of a notebook, due out as early as October…

I thought that title would attract your attention.
I’ve been looking at articles all over the web about one of the latest arrivals to the Acer Aspire line up: The Aspire 5935. Not because I’m an uber-geek or anything like that but was wondering if the online sites had picked up on one of the more interesting characteristics of this notebook.

Just a quick heads up for people looking for the Acer Aspire Timeline series in Canada. Staples Canada has got the Timeline models in stock and demo’d and all other locations for Staples in the Vancouver lower mainland area should have them out as well by now. They’ve got what appears to be a top [...]

I don’t write many of these, but I’d just like to wish Morris a very Happy Birthday. Morris is as many of you know the real Acer Guy. When I re-designed the site, I wanted to give more people more say in the content that gets published here and Morris has had more say than [...]
