Starting the New Year with a (green) bang.

In between writing the web content for a bunch of new smartphones I’ve been trying to get my hands on information about the notebook that is making a few ripples over on Twitter – the Aspire 3811TZ and Aspire 3811TZG, Acer’s first notebooks to get Greenpeace’s stamp of approval and receive an Energy Star 5.0 rating.

Once a year around this time, Microsoft holds its annual Professional Developers conference.
This year, to mark the launch of Windows 7 and “to show our gratitude for the support we received by PDC attendees in the development process of Windows 7″, Windows and Windows Live Division President Steven Sinofsky took the stage and announced [...]

After some serious trials and tribulations – it was much easier than I thought in the end – TheAcerGuy makes its debut on Facebook.
According to Facebook’s TOS, a Page has to have 25 fans before you can register the name (facebook.com/theacerguy) so the first thing I’ve got to ask you is to head off over [...]

Who’d have thought I’d be sitting here in my creative bunker writing this post so soon after my last one?
Well, obviously Gianfranco Lanci did as he’s been dropping hints everywhere.
If you take a look at this chart from those number crunchers over at Gartner, you’ll notice that something very important has happened:
Getting out of the way

Once again I’m in that horrible position of not having time to contribute regularly to this site.
Once again, it’s because I’m up to my neck working on upcoming Acer projects and products I’m not allowed to talk about.
Smartphones (silence), new netbooks (silence), new notebooks (silence), Olympics (silence)… Damn I hate this job sometimes…
Fortunately for me, while I’ve been slaving over a new netbook (actually it’s a notebook), there are people who have been working flat out, unpaid and unthanked to keep this site alive.

Hello to all!
Passed 6 days already, but I still like to say Merry Christmas (I am so late on this) and HAPPY NEW YEAR. I know that there are some significant increases in the numbers of Aspire One users (don’t you just love birthdays and Christmases?), so I’d like to extend an official welcome message [...]

We have our first review for the Acer Aspire 8920.
I’m really excited about receiving these directly from you, and want to thank John Daniels for writing this up so soon after receiving his.
But that’s enough of me. Let me get out the way and let John tell you what his first few days have been [...]

So the wait is finally over.
Blue has landed.
No word yet back from the guys out in New York (they’re probably shattered) but I’ll post some more info the moment I hear from them.
The New York launch was way too late for me (kids!) so I set up my Google alerts and was welcomed with a [...]

So what’s all this about then?
So much for fair play eh? I guess Acer’s on the BigBoy radar now.
I know I’m late in on this one and you’ve probably read it all here anyway but I wanted to give it a few days and see where it went.
For those of you who don’t know, last [...]

Just a quick note to explain some of the changes on TheAcerGuy.
First off, you have all noticed (if you’re here) that TAG has it’s own domain now. That will make it a darned site easier to place in the Search Engines and write on a business card
It’s changed platforms. We’re on WordPress now [...]
