Wow. I never thought we’d be geeking it out with the best of them but if you look closely at this video from G4-TV, you’ll see Acer notebooks and the all-in-one PC showing some wicked gaming action on display at the brick-and-mortar Wired store in New York.

For those of you with better things to do with your time, I’m going to write a quick report on the Global Press Conference held yesterday in NY. First thing to say is that it was a major event as far as Acer was concerned and it’s interesting to see that the journalists took us [...]

It’s not every morning you get to sit down with Gianfranco Lanci before he has breakfast and grill him on the subject of smartphones but that’s exactly what Michelle Caruso-Cabrera from CNBC did when she met up with him at the closing ceremony of the Vancouver Olympic Games on her way to the CTIA Wireless [...]
The Olympics, Acer and a whole lotta people

Have you guys been following the Winter Olympics? It’s been getting some pretty good coverage where I’m from but the time delay (Vancouver’s 9 hours behind where I live) is making it hard for me to be a regular.
Which is a shame as there’s something about the Olympic Games (both winter and summer) that make them both a really special. I like the fact that they mix competition and sportsmanship, national pride and cultural equality and that every now and then they produce some truly unexpected heroes.

No I’m not there. But I know a man who was. John just sent me an update on the Acer Aspire 5738D 3D notebook in the Last Gadget Standing competition. And we did better than you’d think… “The Acer made the distinguished top ten at CES Last Gadget Standing. Although the Acer notebook didn’t win, [...]
Ady Gil – not your average workstation

Ok guys, just a quick update on the Ady Gil, part of the Sea Shepherd’s arsenal against Illegal Whale Hunters and now home to a bunch of Acer computers.
I’ve been receiving daily updates from the captain of Ady Gil, Pete Bethune and thought you’d like to share them.
If this seems off-topic, well it isn’t. It’s a cause I support (through this blog), it’s a place where Acer computers are used to coordinate operations and report on progress, and more importantly it concerns something we as a global society should ask ourselves whether we’re prepared to ignore. These guys aren’t and have put their lives on the line to stop it and for that alone they’re damned heroes.

Many years ago, I learned that our own limits were like walls surrounding us. They gave us a sense of security, dimension and perspective; they allowed us to get to know everything about the world inside because at the same time they protected us from the world outside. I also learned that people are afraid of breaking down those walls and overcoming their limits, as they’re frightened of losing the sanctuary that limits offer. So if happiness awaits those who overcome their limits, we’re actually taught to fear happiness.
Balls I say. I don’t know about you but I’m all for happiness…
