If I unplug the AC adapter from the laptop, it will power up on battery power. When it is turned on it will run fine on either battery or AC adapter. When it's powered off the battery light is lit, but when I press the power button, the battery light goes out. I unplug the AC adapter and the laptop will power on from the battery and the battery light will come back on. But this will only happen if the laptop is powered off for more than 6 hours, less than that it will power on fine.</p> <p>I've tried removing the battery and powering on with just the AC adapter and it will not power on. I've tried removing the AC adapter and battery and holding the power button for 1 minute, did not solve the problem. I was having this problem before I did a full factory restore of the laptop and am still having after doing a factory restore. I sent an e-mail to Acer's technical support looking for suggestions and all they told me was to reset the BIOS to the default settings. I tried that and am now waiting for 6 hours to see if that solves it. I'm thinking it won't make a difference. I ran virus scans and Malware Bytes, both came up clean. </p> <p>I'm at a loss of what to try next.
