Hello,

Have you tried looking in the "videos" folder ?

Mine were stored automatically in there. SO unless you have changed the settings they could very well be in there. :)
hope this helps

Hi!
I recently bought Acer Aspire 7540G with Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4570 video card. I am using a second monitor with the external VGA output so I use 2 monitors at a time. Yesterday everything was working perfectly but today when i plugged in the cable my second monitor is showing "No signal". I tried with a different monitor and it's showing the same thing. I use both Windows and Ubuntu 11.04 and the results are the same on the two OS. When I start windows and set my second monitor to YPbPr option it works but it everything is in red and green and with very bad picture. Under Ubuntu there's no chance at starting the monitor at all. After all I saw that both OS recognize the monitor but there is no signal coming to it. What do you think? I'm considering that this is a hardware problem but still not sure.. may be I should go to a tech service.. Do you know any way to check if there's problem with the external video? As you can see my laptop monitor is working fine... !?

I'd reseat the card and make sure the contacts are clean on it.

I also didn't see the card you listed in the thread I listed as being "known to work". It is possible the card will not work despite being an "MXM card" . While it should work it still may not. When I got my MXM card I got one that was known to work with my machine.

If you verified with the seller that it was tested to work with your machine then I would contact the seller and see if they have any ideas.

I would also try posting in the other forum as they have many more members that have upgraded and swapped out MXM cards. You'll be drawing on more people to help you out.

As I stated above, in an MXM-III slot an MXM-II or MXM-I card should work. I would recommend ensuring that the heatsinks will line up and match in your system first. Many ebay sellers will tell you if they've tested the card with your laptop. If you want to be extra safe that just get one of the cards listed in the thread I linked that are known to work. Still check with the seller to ensure compatibility however.

Thanks for the link but the trouble that i am having is, acording to the service document there are 3 possible card options 2 are mxmII 1 is mxmIII. From what i have read they are not interchangable and i am not sure which is in my laptop. If it is an mxmII will any mxmII work or do they have to be the same as the removed 1? Thanks for the help.

Hello ION,

You said you tried another LCD and that was working [not speaking about the external one] ?

Anyway, test the original LCD in another 5920 and see if it works. Also, test another LCD into the original Laptop and see if that works.
Mainboard problems would not give you a visual on a external screen, as would a faulty graphics card - I assume this is not a unit with a graphics card, as the 5920 and 5920G are different ?

Anyone? Acer Aspire 5920 shows nothing on the laptop LCD panel but does to an External monitor. It is not the Fn F5 issue. The LCD and male connector are OK (tried another LCD and OK). It is something on the motherboard. Anyone seen this before? I am an electronics engineer and used to tracking faults but looking for a pointer on this motherboard. Thank you all.

does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the graphics from the standard GeForce Go 7600?
If so, what is the best choice?
I'm not sure it's possible, as the laptop overheats even with the standard video! (Maybe that's why it was discontinued)

the file most likely got corrupted as the system entered a sleep or hibernation state. you can try to repair it with vlc or other utilities.

however, chances are slim.

Thanks for the response but I'm afraid I don't understand that article at all. I think it's for someone very techy, and that's not me...

How do I remove the pre-installed media players; there was some weird code - what am I meant to do with that?

<<You can then install VLC by just adding the official repository and using yum, which only works if the updated default repositories are also installed as mentioned here>>

That was like a different language. Sorry. I tried to follow it several times but it makes absoutely no sense to me! :-(
