The Subwoofer (Tuba Bass) in my 8920G (17 months old) has started crackling. Is it broken? Any quick-fix ideas before I send it in for replacement? How come the speakers are so flimsy? Can't they handle music played at full volume all the time?

If a unit has been opened in a normal way, so opened and not broken, you still have warranty.

Here you could order the speaker set with subwoofer if im not mistaken:

you can replace just the rear speaker pack, however finding it and repairing it yourself would be daunting.

I have been offered one of these laptops but the Tuba bass unit is faulty, The unit has been opened so assume there is no warranty.

Is it possible to Buy the Tuba bass unit on its own?. Its 100% the Bass units fault and not the laptop because if the cone of the Tuba bass is pressed it will work so has broken inside somehow.

Thanks.
