Since there was absolutely no other solution to the Aspire 6930 boot-up problem I mentioned before, I resigned myself to using the eRecovery options.

When this machine was first received, I made the suggested backup DVDs, so I decided to use THAT recovery option rather than the factory defaults.

Regardless of whether I start eRcovery using ALT-F10 or by booting from the recovery DVD, the process gets to the point of selecting the source and destination, DOES allow me to select the DVD as the source, but has NOTHING in the drop-down box for the destination and does not allow any entry there. Since nothing can be entered there, the "Next" button remains greyed out and the process cannot continue.

Since that failed, I went ahead with the recovery from the factory defaults, and that DID work, but it would be nice to be able to recover back to the point of those backup DVDs instead having to remove all of the McAfee, Oberon and Acer garbage in order to install what my friends (whose machine this is) want.

Why is the recovery from the DVDs not working? The DVDs are NOT damaged, and are otherwise usable, and the hard drive obviously works, as well, else the factory default restoration would not have worked. Why does this not work the way it is supposed to work, and is there anything that can be done to make it work?

Thank you.
