Since nothing can be entered there, the "Next" button remains greyed out and the process cannot continue.</p> <p>Since that failed, I went ahead with the recovery from the factory defaults, and that DID work, but it would be nice to be able to recover back to the point of those backup DVDs instead having to remove all of the McAfee, Oberon and Acer garbage in order to install what my friends (whose machine this is) want.</p> <p>Why is the recovery from the DVDs not working? The DVDs are NOT damaged, and are otherwise usable, and the hard drive obviously works, as well, else the factory default restoration would not have worked. Why does this not work the way it is supposed to work, and is there anything that can be done to make it work?</p> <p>Thank you. </p>
