5920 Battery Problem
(9 posts)-
Hello everyone,
I got an acer 5920G laptop about 5 months ago.For the last few weeks i hadnt used the battery a lot,and instead was using the laptop directly from the mains. Now my battery is acting very weird. After charging for a long time, and when the battery meter shows 100%, i disconnect the mains and try to use the laptop on just the battery. The battery lasts for about 25 mins maximum, and then the laptop turns off. When i open it again,it will show the battery level at 6 or 7% only.
Can anyone explain whats wrong with it.I googled this and somebody told me to recalibrate the battery, but it doesnt work. The bios doesnt have the battery recalibration option.
Please help :(

6 month's warranty on a battery, so send it back to acer for a replacement!!

Faulty battery or faulty internal power supply. There's no such thing are "Resetting" your battery anymore. Older batteries had a memory of sorts but that's all been sorted out.

@ibzfiles: fully discharge your battery then fully charge it before you turn it on. Do it many times.
Mine was 7 times and it got back to normal.Posted 2 years ago # -

@ibzfiles: What do you do with the laptop? don't say you're a graphic artist ^^
Also don't play heavy games when using battery.Posted 2 years ago # -

if it is under warranty you should send it in for repair. could be something else wrong with it. battery and all.

TechieDiva is right. If the battery is not charging properly it could very well be the internal power supply on the motherboard.
Also, 6 months is standard warranty on batteries. This goes for all PC makers in North America unless otherwise stated. Many extended warranties only cover the battery for half the time as well. This due to the volatile nature of rechargeable batteries and how quickly they can degrade under certain circumstances.
I am disappointed in the place that sold it to you as they should have told you about the battery only being covered for 6 months.
Perhaps going to the place of purchase and calmly explaining what has happened and how you were not told of the battery being excluded from the 12 month warranty may yield some result. The store has no obligation to do so but may help if you present it to them in a calm manor. Customer's who come in and get angry and mad are much less likely to get a positive response from the person they are talking to. It might be worth a try.
