Hello again. This is an issue that has arisen as a consequence of the optical drive failure in my 8920g (see my previous post). OK, so ACER support advised that I use eRecovery and back up to D: drive prior to effecting a factory reset, which I proceeded to do. As the optical failure remained once reset to factory spec I was advised to send the machine in for assessment. My problem now is; how do I restore my machine back to previous and/or can I transfer the back up to my external hard drive. When I went to eRecovery restore it doesn't show D; as an option. As you can understand I can't send the machine out without the knowledge I can restore my files on it's return. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for your help. Had to find the hidden erData folder in D: drive and simply copied it to external, then could restore from there. It seems odd that eRecovery doesn't allow D: as an option to activate the restore from. At least now I can send the machine in to ACER safe in the knowledge that whatever they do to the unit to fix my optical drive I can return it to 'as was'. If anything, this experience has highlighted the importance of adequate back up processes 'cause you never get a warning!

Note that eRecovery only backups your data stored in C drive. You must backup all D drive files manually.
