    Hi,

First Post!!! Has anyone else had problems installing Vista SP2? I have just purchased an Acer 5536 that installed it fine. My 8920G install OK within Vista, shutdown states it finalsing install, reboot states finalsing and the it fails. Once failed, it rolls back!!

    Any thoughts?

Also...BIOS version 1.14 and all other updates installed OK. Tried it with Norton AV disabled also!

I have not problem on installing Vista SP2 to my 8920G.
When I was installing Vista SP1 I updated my Synaptic driver (which is required at that time due to incompatibility), maybe that's also the issue in your case.

I always install the SP though Windows Update. Using that way the SP will not in the list until my 8920G is ready (all requirements are passed).

I have been with Vista SP2 since months ago when it was first released to Windows Update.

    Good luck!

Sounds like it's just a weird botched update. A system restore should fix everything up when you do the update the 2nd time around. Only seen SP2 fail once, it was on a dell system, but a system restore and then re-download of SP2 fixed it.

Alternatively you can try downloading the standalone version of the service pack to see if that makes any difference.

But do make sure your drivers are up to date ;)

It should work fine. won't find official drivers on Acer's website, just have Windows find them for you. That's what I did. I've got a 5920G.
