    4GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit– upgraded from Vista Ultimate originally installed.
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz

My laptop has started randomly to switch off completely, as if the mains supply had been turned off suddenly. This happens whether or not the battery is installed. The event viewer has only two messages concerning this, added below. The laptop is now running on mains only as the battery had died and has been removed.

There is no blue screen, and no error dump files. This is happening once a day, sometimes more. I have monitored temperatures using Speedfan and HWMonitorPro and there is no temperature higher than 55 degrees C, as I am using a Notebook Cooler ZM-NC2000. I have tried
I have tried with no success:

    1. Hotfixes KB2265716 and 981621 which pertained to sudden freezes or shutdowns.
    2. Startup repair – no problems found.
    2. Run chkdsk - no problems found.
    3. Run sfc /scannow - no problems found
    4. Restoring an earlier image of the system disk.
    5. Updating drivers.
    6. Disabling the nVidia driver – some forums suggested this as a cause.
    7. Repair installation of Windows 7.
    8. Reformatting system disk and doing a clean install of Windows 7.

None of these have solved the problem.

Searching the web suggests possible solutions which I am not capable of implementing:

    1. Failing power adapter.
    2. Failing power circuit within the laptop.
    3. Failing hard drive
    4. Failing motherboard
    5. Updating BIOS - Acer advise against this.

I have this same computer. Same processor and speed. Recently I've started having this same problem and actually started my own thread for it as well. My problem started shortly before I switched from Vista Ultimate 64-bit up to Windows 7 32-bit, but still continues. Right now with speedfan it shows my GPU at 61C, core 1 at 38C, and core 2 at 38C, but sometimes those cores get up to 50-60C without even running a game or anything. If I get any help with mine I'll be sure to let you know, and I'll be checking back here as well. =]

I had issue with my 8930g powering off randomly - it was the fans clogged with dust on the heatsinks,(after 1 year) just get a small screw driver and remove the bottom of the laptop its shaped, then remove 3-4 screws on the main fan, there is 2 copper heatsinks, remove the 2 screws on both and slide them out, mine was so full of dust it would freeze right away playing a game after 4-5 min - cpu and gpu temp dropped down by 30-40 - works fine now - I clean them 2-3 times a yrs now

My 8930G was shutting down randomly, I removed the power plug slot and soldered the black ground wire (was not connected) from opening and closing the lid to many times (common issue) if you have basic soldering skills, it was easy.
