Acer 5738DZG Atheros wireless hangs authenticating

    I have new out of the box today the 5738DZG with Win 7. It has Atheros AR5B93 wifi. Driver is 8.0.0.171. Tried to connect to 3Com Office Connect on wifi - no luck. I have to use WPA-PSK set up as WPA-Personal and TKIP (to match router). I can see my network fine, but when I try to connect it starts then hangs saying 'attempting to authenticate'.

    I've tried many things. By using wired ethernet I got all Windows updates, tried new Atheros update, rolled it back, downloaded another 800171 from Acer. Zippo. The only one bit of luck I had was sticking the IP address of my router into Wireless Connection Properties>IP Protocol V4>Properties>general>advanced. Connected until I next started up. So it can be done but it never worked afterwards.

    When I've looked at the Properties of the IP Protocol V4 - it does look as it is looking at a totally different IP? But I can't get it to talk to my router.

    I'm not technical - any ideas short of sending the PC back - help! Please!
