Acer aspire 5715Z black screen, computer seems to start fine

    Ive had my aspire 5715Z for about two years now and besides a bit of over-heating its never given me problems, at least not with the display. The other night i closed it, (i do this quite often, never had problems with it before) and the next morning i turned it on and the screen stayed black as if the comptuer was switched off. From the sounds of it though, the laptop starts up fine enough. I dont have another screen to hook up to to double check, and i wouldnt know how :( Ive tried all the different things like removing the battery and power source and holding the start button for 30 seconds and whatnot, and draining the battery, nothings worked. And the warranty is up so if i cant get it to work again im pretty much screwed.
    Any ideas?

    oh yeah, little update that i noticed just now. If i turn the laptop on and leave it to its own device it will eventually switch off on its own. So I suppose it doesnt really start up fine.
