Hi im needing help with my acer aspire 5810T running on Windows 7 64 bit when i connect my laptop to my tv via HDMI port i get video no problems but the sound plays through my laptop still its driving me crazy trying to sort this.

In my control pannel under sound i have 2 options (speakers) or (Digital Audio S/PDIF) when i leave it on speakers the sound plays through laptop when i change the digital audio to primary the bar beside it moves as if to say sounds playing but nothing through television or speakers come through.

When i goto device manager under sound i have 2 drives High definition Audio Device. and Intel(r) High definition audio HDMI.

Any advice at all would begreat thanks alot for your time.

did you upgrade to W7? if so you still need to update your intel video drivers. the wdm drivers do not have hdmi audio. try acer site or intel.com.

also, could be hdmi issue with your tv. try a different tv or monitor that supports hdmi audio.
