Acer Aspire One with Linux operating system will not boot up.

    My daughter has had the Aspire one for 12 months now and when she switches on the notebook we see the screen to press either F2 or F12 and the it goes to the blue Aspire one screen and then instead of the four boxes with the different options it just goes to a black screen with a white arrow. What is wrong with this and will doing a recovery of the system help? Please help!!
