    Hello everyone!

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire Z5610 All-In-One multitouch desktop, and I'm very happy with my purchase. However there are two issues I keep running into. Both not completely hindering my machine useless, but a thorn in my side none-the-less.

My first issue is the touch screen. It's hard to actually explain my problem, as it's an on/off thing. Occasionally, my touch screen will refuse to detect any presses along the top of the screen, mostly in the top-right (where the window controls are) and top-left. It's not a calibration error, as other times it works perfectly fine.

The other issue is my mouse and keyboard. They're wireless, and are connected via a USB Tranceiver. These came with the computer itself. They occasionally become unresponsive, and sometimes 'lag' input, causing key presses to suddenly appear a few seconds later, or my mouse cursor to jump it's position. I'm assuming this is possibly just a signal issue.

But other than that, I love my computer. Best sum of money I ever spent.

Thank you for any help you can offer in advance.

    Bump.

    Information I forgot to include:

Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

The IR sensor bars that create the touchscreen function seem fine. All in place, not broken anywhere.

Any help is still help! Please~!

    Bump, again.

Still nothing? Google isn't turning up anything. Somehow my mouse and keyboard seem to be fine again, but my touchscreen is still having issues.

If anyone has anything, even just a shot-in-the-dark suggestion, it'll help. Please! Help a fellow Acer Lover out!

I purchased this PC on the 31st December, got home and found it was what they called 'DEAD ON ARRIVAL' . Got a refund from PCWorld.
New stock wasn't available until the new year and then I could only order online for home delivery. So, I purchased it via CURRYS online and it was delivered on the 12th January 2010.

Initially the mouse wouldn't work, turned out that it didn't like the batteries included in the box from Acer. Got some duracell ones, worked fine, But, I have also noticed that mouse if sometimes unresponsive exactly as you described, and also with the touchscreen, top right hand corner.

That is all immaterial now as on Wednesday 10th Feb. the PC 'died'.
Lost power unexpectedly. Needless to say I'm very upset. Saved for 3 years to buy a PC and then for this to happen. Curry's not terribly helpful, particularly as I hadn't taken out their 'WHATEVER HAPPENS' insurance! PC has to go back to Acer for repair and as of yesterday afternoon, Friday, my PC was still sat on the shelf in the cupboard in CURRYS, Not even been sent back to Acer yet.

I've written to the General Manager of Acer UK , his name is Bobby Watkins. Here's his email address if yo want to write to him
    'bobby_watkins@acer-euro.com'

I wrote to him about the 1st PC that was DOA, I got a response from his then. I've since written about this latest PC, not got a response yet! Not giving up though.

Good luck with your PC, hope you don't have any problems like mine.

    Hi Axtropinonymous,

I am experiencing exactly the same problems - both with the mouse and keyboard and, more frustratingly, the touchscreen.

The main problem area is around 10cm from the left and around 6 cm from the top. If I use paint and drag my finger across, this area is unpaintable and then the pen line splits into two as if I am using two fingers even though I am only using one. (I hope that I have explained that sufficietly(?))

Are you still expereincing the problems?

    Regards
    Len

I found that the mouse and keyboard dongle bit needs to be in the side USB ports not the back one. In the back it was not working effectively. The side was perfect

I have the same problem with the screen not correctly responding to touch input in the top right corner.

I just bought the Aspire z5610, and I'm also in Australia.

Touching about 1/2cm down and 2-3cm in from the right the input registers about 5mm away from my finger. So if I touch a Close button it actually registers on the Maximise button. You can actually see the little star shaped touch indicator about 5mm away from your finger. This occurs in an area about 1cm along and is especially annoying because it is in the area where the Min/Max/Close bouttons often reside.

I haven't had a issue with the mouse or keyboard.

I purchased an Acer Aspire Z5610 4 months ago and have have intermittant problems with the touch screen completely dying, especially after the computer has gone to sleep and after rebooting. It got worse and worse over time and then became completely dead all the time.

The pen icon disappears from control panel when not working.

Acer advised me to restore to factory settings, which I did. Worked great for one day. I started adding programs back. I thought Nortons may have been disabling it, so I uninstalled that and tried Mcafee. I also decided to not let the computer go to sleep, using a screen saver instead. Worked well all day, but when I reboot this morning - nothing.

I love this computer and the main reason for purchase was the touch screen as I do a lot of graphic work. The problem is costing me many hours of frustration.

Any further suggestions? Could this be a hardware issue rather than a software issue?
One message I get is that the USB driver has a problem -could that be related?

If I get them to take the computer away, they will most likely do what I just did, and I will be back to square one. I'm tempted to get a reufund and start again with something else, if I can!

Hey guys! Totally forgot I posted this!

Yes, I'm still having touch-screen issues. Lately they had been worse than ever, the mouse 'jumping' to the top and staying there until I rebooted. I had to disable this.

Interestingly... a screen clean fixed this. I guess my screen was mucky and it was breaking the IR field.

However I still have a dead zone.

Watching a YouTube video for an Acer laptop which uses the same optic Infa-Red 'touch screen' hardware. Apparently the hardware connector belt cable might be loose or dirty, and all you need to do is take it out, give it a clean, and put it back in firmly.

Downside; I haven't got a bleedin' clue how to take my computer apart. The front panel is held on by demon magic, and won't give way any further than half-way down. No screws or anything. My computer is out of warranty, and I'm saving up for a laptop now; since I missed the portability; so I'm willing to break my computer apart to figure out if it's fixable.

So I'm putting it down to messy hard-ware assembly. Which is fair enough, to some degree; but they could have done some quality control before shipping. If anyone has any ideas on how to take the damn front cover off; drop me a line!
