I have an Acer Aspire 7520G w/ Acer Crystal Eye webcam, I have no idea if it's Bison, Suyin or Chicony.
I have tried to install each of the drivers (and uninstalled each afterwards), but it still won't work.
If I go to Device Manager it finds the camera, but the driver is an outdated Windows default (this doesn't change when I install other drivers)
If I uninstall this windows driver trough Device Manager, it will reinstall itself.
I have tried to update the driver to device manager and manual chosen the different driver folders, the Chicony and the Suyin will not install here, while the bison installs but then gives me a blue screen.
I am downloading the drivers from here: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_7520.html , have also tried newer versions of the drivers. Anyone who knows a solution?

Managed to turn of Windows automatic driver installation, but it still won't work when I install the Acer drivers. Anyone who is familiar with this issue?

You could try deleting all the possible webcam drivers from your system to ensure that they aren't conflicting with each other. From there you could install them one at a time, deleting them right after if they don't work.

system restoration is always possible but I've seen a laptop of non-acer branding that had the same issue. The cause was the wrong system image for the unit. Random once off thing I figured. If that's the case the youv'e got to get ACer to re-image the system or do it yourself with a generic copy of your version of windows and use the key on the botton of your laptop to validate the windows install. Then manually download and install all the drivers you need. (You may want to do this ahead of time and burn them to a DVD to save yourself a lot of time)
