I just got an Acer Ferrari One 200 2 days ago. Pre-installed Win7 64bit Home premium. 3gig Ram and 500Gig Hard Drive. This laptop runs win7 smoothly. It feels snappy. I am happy so far with this laptop except it keeps on hibernating for no reason. Very annoying. The hibernation problem is erratic. Sometimes it will fire and sometime it will not. I was making a recovery disc and all of a sudden it goes to sleep. Weird. I tried tweaking all the power settings but still it goes to sleep for no reason. Some say I need to turn off the hibernating feature off but this is not the solution. I need the hibernating feature coz i use it a lot. I also have a Compaq Cq40 laptop turion x2 2.1ghz, ATI 780gchipset almost the same specs with the Ferrari One but my Compaq does not have the hibernation bug. Hibernation runs flawlessly on my Compaq. Any help advice will be highly appreciated. tnx

sounds like a bios issue. try updating to the latest bios 3106 bios. it is still a new model so they may not have a fix for it yet.

    Hi
I just wanted to no one thing. How often does the Acer Ferrari One 200 hibernate. Like for how long can you use it for until it hibernates.

Hi there, my problem with this laptop (I'm on my third one in one week) is intermittent screen flickering! Any ideas? Had this one 2 days from a different supplier to the first two laptops. Really like this machine which is why I would rather solve the problem if it's easy.
I have updated all drivers and it happens both with power cable and battery.

Hibernation issues are generally caused by the video card driver. Ensure you've got the latest one available and when you install it that you install it with administrative privileges to ensure everything goes well.

Hi everyone. Just updated Catalyst from the default v9.09 to v9.12. As far as I can tell, the screen standby problem has NOT YET been solved. :( Do I have to update the BIOS?

I have a bit of a noob question, but how do I turn off the annoying F1 car noise at startup? I've tried setting all my windows sounds to [no sound] and I still hear the car when windows starts up. It's potentially embarrassing. O_o

    Hi!

I could use some help... I don't know if this is the right topic, but here it goes.

I bought a Ferrari One 200 a few weeks ago and at first I liked almost everything about it.

But know I find the intro quite annoying (the car engine noise) and the wallpaper I defined before I reboot doesn't stick!

I'm using the original Windows 7 Home Edition, which came with the computer.

Sorry to ask, but it's starting to get on my nerve!

on previous ferrari's, the wallpaper and sound is a startup entry called ferrariwp.exe

    try unchecking it in msconfig.

Thanks, TechieDiva! I've been having the same problem as acer4ever. Your advice worked!

Btw, Upgraded BIOS to 3109 and that solved my screen sleep mode problem.

I have a problem with acer ferrari 200, when I use the PC with the battery, the CPU is fixed at 1200 MHz, it is possible? should not stoop to save energy? I also set energy saving windows 7, but the problem persists, please help me ...

what do you use to see the frequency? If you are referring to the windows properties, that is static and does not change.

    grayfox,
L310 CPU has only one P-state: 1200MHz, it does not have PowerNow, see http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%20X2%20Dual-Core%20Mobile%20L310%20-%20AMML310HAX5DM.html

Maybe because it is already very low power and even lower frequency wouldn't help much? CPUs with PowerNow seem to switch to lowest 800MHz P-state though.

    It's a mystery. ;-(

It's a mystery...but the problem is hardware or software? I'm using CrystalCPUIDx64 and risks to bring the CPU to a minimum 800 mhz, I wonder would a BIOS update to fix this problem? write all the acer, and say that, I think we do in a hurry to release a BIOS update ...

    grayfox,
the BIOS does not have _PSS ACPI objects that PowerNow needs to work, so it is possible that BIOS update would help. On the other hand it is possible that the CPU is fused not to expose PowerNow and this is why the BIOS doesn't have these objects.
There was a guy in notebookforums who replaced his F1 L310 CPU with some ZL series CPU, maybe PowerNow would work with different CPU.

    @ grayfox:
i use RMClock to downclock the processor to 800MHz when idle, and undervolt it to 0.675Volt and greatly improve battery life! you should give it a try...

my F1 came with 3109 BIOS, don't know if the latest one (3110) support cool n quiet/power now!

    Hello ElCaviteno,

LOL did the BIOS upgrade work ? If not, why don't you just disable the hibernation feature both in the system and in the BIOS [if possible].

Well, I put TL-60 into my F1 and PowerNow works now. I have also modified Linux kernel so it overrides PSS tables with my own. So I can now set any frequency I want.

just purchase one last weekend, I encountered a problem with dimming the brightness in my monitor. The dim and bright function keys and the power saver brightness adjustment doesn't work. I tried to update my bios in the device manager but it said that its driver is updated. Do i have to download it directly in the acer website and install it manually? or is it really updated? thanks
