Aspire 5672 Upgrade
(4 posts)-
I have a nice Aspire 5672 that I would like to upgrade.
I wonder if I can replace the T2300 CPU with a T7xxx, T8xxx or T9xxx (or other!) processor. I'm guessing that the higher bus-speed CPU's will need to be underclocked, or does that matter?
Here's hoping,

probably not. core duo yes, core 2 duo most likely not.
I would say any Core duo with a 667Mhz FSB, and yes the bus speed matters.

Sigh.
I was hoping to find joy with one of the following:
Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00 GHz 667 MHz 12x 4 MiB 34W Socket M
Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 GHz 667 MHz 13x 4 MiB 34W Socket M
Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33 GHz 667 MHz 14x 4 MiB 34W Socket M
Core 2 Duo T7600G 2.33 GHz 667 MHz 14x 4 MiB 35W Socket MOr, one of these, with some underclocking:
Core 2 Duo T7100 1.80 GHz 800 MHz 9x 2 MiB 35W Socket P
Core 2 Duo T7300 2.00 GHz 800 MHz 10x 4 MiB 35W Socket P
Core 2 Duo T7500 2.20 GHz 800 MHz 11x 4 MiB 35W Socket P
Core 2 Duo T7700 2.40 GHz 800 MHz 12x 4 MiB 35W Socket P
Core 2 Duo X7800 2.6 GHz 800 MHz 13x 4 MiB 44W Socket P
Core 2 Duo X7900 2.80 GHz 800 MHz 14x 4 MiB 44W Socket PSuch a shame. I'd really like to freshen up my old workhorse. Would it be possible to upgrade to 4 gig of RAM, or put in a faster hard drive?
Thanks for the reply!
