Owned this laptop for 18 months. The battery began to not hold its charge. It finally gave up midway through a reboot. Replaced both battery and AC adaptor but now laptop fails to boot. It starts to boot but after five seconds it stops and then tries to boot again.
Nothing gets displayed on screen so boot doesn't get very far. Any help would be appreciated please.

I have the Same exact problem. I have searched the web for a fix and gotten no answers. I have even went to the extremes of replacing the motherboard thinking it was a MB problem. Nothing has worked so far and it still won't POST to the BIOS. Just that endless loop of power on lights all flash then exactly 20 seconds later restart. Checked my power supply, ram, graphics card, and cpu also I was told to try making a crisis recovery because when I hold Fn and ESC it sits and flashes but the recovery never looks at the USB.

The key combo is hold Fn+Esc+PowerSwitch then plug in AC Adapter then release the buttons.

I had the exact same problem with my Aspire 6920..

Look at the power supply/AC adaptor... is there a green power indicator light?

Is it steady or does it start flashing?

If it flashes, or is dimly lit, then it is the power pack that needs replacing..

If it is flashing then there is a problem that stops the Laptop from powering up..(not enough 'juice' getting through to the laptop)!

I had the same problem and had to buy a new adapter, cost me just under £60 .. but it solved the problem!!

    Hope this helps.

[BTW I took the whole caboodle to an "Acer" shop and they told me it was the 'motherboard' that had failed and it would be cheaper to buy a new Laptop....

I'm not going back there if something else goes wrong with it!!]

William did buying the new cord resolve your issue? I am having the exact same problem where it looks like its going to boot up but then stops and tries again every 20 seconds or so

No it didn't and I have replaced my laptop already after replacing every part of it first.
