    Hi all

Basically I would like to upgrade the processor as I have seen on the net that there are versions that have an E5400 Core 2 Duo and a Q8600 Core 2 Quad CPU's. So is it possible to change my celeron for ether of these cpu's?
My BIOS is A0-P01 which doesn't have options for changing the FSB or Voltages so am i right in thinking these would be setup dependent on the cpu installed, or is there some other BVIOS i have to install first?

    Thanks for any advice

    Cheers

Yes you should have several choices as to upgrading the processor and no you shouldn't have to update your BIOS.

    Thanks for the reply.

Would one of my several choices be the Pentium dual Core E5500? As it is the fastest processor (2.8Ghz) that uses a FSB speed of 800Mhz (the same as my current memory which will save me having to change it), it would be the the ultimate upgrade with the least conversion cost.

My only concern is the 14x multiplier required. Is the WG43M mainboard able to handle this?

Ok. after receiveing no comment on my last question, I went ahead and got the E5500 CPU. Fitted it and I am using the X3812 to type this entry. I do have a couple of questions though.

The BIOS has no frequency or voltage settings that can be changed. Is this due to limitations of the BIOS version or due to the CPU being locked down in these areas?

When I ran the latest version of CPU-Z to see what I was getting I noticed that the CPU at idle uses a multiplier of x6 but when doing something this changes to x14. I know this is due to some form of power conservation system (most likely Intel speed step) but again there is no option in BIOS to manage it. Is there a way to make the CPU run at full speed constantly?

    Thanks
