    Hi

I've just done a clean install of Windows 7 on my Aspire 6530g. When I reinstalled and ran Acer Bio Protection it prompted me for some passwords which I now realise are at BIOS level. Now each time I reboot the BIOS prompts me for a password. How can I clear this?

    Thanks for any help.

    enter the password you set.

unfortunately, instructing someone how to bypass the bios on the internet makes the whole point of passwords pointless. no way to know that you are the actual owner.

I know the password - I just don't want to have to enter it every time I start the computer. But I understand your point. Unfortunately Acer are no help in the UK so where do I go from here?

if you know the password, you can enter the bios (setup) and clear the password so it does not prompt you every time.

Can you tell me what keys to press (and when) in the boot sequence to enter the bios setup on an Aspire 6530?

    Hello!
I have the same problem with my TravelMate 7530G
But I had it already with Vista, and now installed the 7, and always when boot I have to enter the bios password.. I don't know why, but I eaven can't anymore log in to the Acer Bio Protection program with my fingerprint after the update to 7, and I think there is no password to use to enter the program, always only asks the fingerprint when trying to enter the Acer Bio Protection -> System Settings

So how to make the bios not to ask the the password everytime and is there any way to enter the Acer Bio Protection program?

Sorry my bad english, I'm from Finland, nobody of the Acer providers here has helped or answered and tried to search from the internet for a while...

There is always an option to enter in a password, even if it is a small link somewhere on the screen.

The Acer eSettings program has a tab for BIOS passwords. There are buttons marked [Remove].

I don't have passwords set, but would assume that you can use these to remove the passwords. You probably have to enter the existing password before removal.

OK - problem solved (as long as you know your BIOS and/or BIOS Admin passwords).

    1. As soon as you switch on, start hitting F2 (works for my Aspire 6530G).
    2. You should be in the BIOS settings. If a BIOS Admin password is set you'll need to enter that first.
    3. Once in the BIOS settings hit the right arrow key to put the cursor on 'Security'.
    4. Use the down arrow key to 'Password on boot' which will say 'Enabled'.
    5. Hit 'enter'.
    6. Hit the up/down arrow to highlight 'Disabled'.
    7. Hit 'enter'.
    8. Hit F10 (Save and Exit).
    9. Save configuration changes and exit now? 'Yes'.
    10. Hit 'enter'.

    Done.

    Hey!
I did as RoyReed said, in the Bios.
Password on boot is now 'Disabled'
BUT IT STIL ALWAYS ASKES IT ON BOOT!?!?!

And another problem: Acer Bio Protection doesen't even ask the fingerprint anymore. As I said earlier on my post, but now it seems like it doesn't even read the fingerprint. When I enter the Acer Bio Protection -> System Settings there is a '?' on top of the fingerprint symbol, and when wiping my finger, nothing happens anymore. There used to come green circle or red cros (correct or incorrect fingerprint) there where now lies the blue questionmark ('?').
And there is no an option to enter in a password!?

Can't help with the BIOS password problem, but the '?' seems to be due to a mismatched version of the Bio Protection / Fingerprint software. What version are you using? I've found that 6.2.56 works.

On your last comment ("no option to enter password"), just click the username icon and Win 7 should prompt just like XP & Vista used to - easy to forget when you get used to logging in with a swipe! :)

    Hey Starnamer,
It says my version is ATA 6.0.00.16, so should I update it? There is no update button, so just download a newer version or something?

And hey it worked a little bit couple days ago, there was no "?" anymore and it recognized my finger and I managed to go to the settings and make a new fingerprints that it would recognize better, but now it has the "?" again and nothing happens... And there is really no place to put password, thrust me, clicked everywhere, username too but nothing happens...

Are you using Windows 7 and that version of yours works?

Edit: And what laptop do you have?

    Edit2: Can't find that version, link please :) ?
