    acer aspire 6530

ok, classic 'im stupid and used windows to flash bios' story. needless to say flash fails, bios corrupt and nothing but flashing power light on reboot.

ok so i google it find the crisis program ..... check
find another version of crisis by hp, downloaded it too ..... check
download 3 different versions of the bios off acers website ...... .check
    usb floppy drive ..... check
    floppy disks....... check
make boot disk using acer's crisis prog....... check
replace BIOS.WPH with new downloaded BIOS...... check
remove battery, plug in AC ....... check
hol Fn+ESC and turn on laptop ........ check

floppy drive is accessed for about 4 min. then lights go off on floppy drive
laptop never does anything after that, no reboot nothing

after manual reboot back to square one, no POST nothing

I've used all three versions of the bios off Acers website. I've tried making the disk with HPs software. I've left the battery in, i've tried adding an autoexec.bat to the floppy.... I get the exact same results every single time.

    Please help!!!

    Hi

Unfortunatly I've not got the solution, I've got the same problem only worse!

Mid way through flashing my bios (Aspire 5920G) from Windows 7 my machine just cut out and is now completely dead, no lights no noise no anything.

I read in a different forum that resetting the CMOS might help and suggested taking off back cover and removing a small plug with black and red cables which they alledge is the lead to the CMOS battery. I tried this but alas to no avail.

I also tried the official acer support but they politely told me to go away as my warranty is out of date and go to my local technician (600 miles away according to their web site).

Again any help would be great.

    Ta

so acer says your not under warranty pay us $60 / 30 min over the phone tech support and we'll help you. tigerdirect says no actually you computer is under warranty still here is the information you need to give to acer. acer says ok we need to check with our extended warranty dept. 2 days later we find out it IS in fact under warranty. thank you tigerdirect for being so amazing. off to buy a terabyte external to ghost the HD and then 3pass wipe it before shiping to acer.

I would just take your unit to the local computer shop. It they are worth they're salt they'll be able to fix it for you unless you actually fried something while playing with the CMOS battery.
