Crystal Eye Problems 6930-6067

I too am having a problem with the crystal eye webcam from my Aspire 6930-6067. When I bought the computer it worked fine and really I didn't use it much. I downloaded skype because my wife and daughter both have an aspire one and I thought it'd be neat for us to be able to call each other using the webcam.

Then I found out that the "camera no found", that's the exact message I got when trying to access the camera via the program file for the crystal eye webcam.

I have tried everything tech support has suggested. I reinstalled the drivers, recovered the system, and still no webcam. When I install the suggested bison driver, I get the cam window but it's entirely grey and none of the functions work.

The camera is not listed in the device manager. I feel like there should be some software to install instead of just the drivers, but so far no hint of what that might be from acer.

One really frustrating thing is that I am using the website for tech support.I get a different person every time I submit an update to the original ticket.

    Any ideas?

If the webcam isnt shown in device manager (also after a full software recovery) it probably a defect webcam.

In the same boat Suyin must make some rather cheap cameras to be having so many isshues with there cameras.

Its mass production stuff, so lets say they want to have less then 1% failure rate, then if you see how much they sell then this "1% failure rate" is still a big number of defect parts, if you catch my drift?

    @Mr_M
There is something true with the 1% failure rate

I am having the same issue with the same model - what bugs me is that it was working for a very short while (2 days) and then it stopped working

I did even one picture from myself which excludes a manufacturing defect as it would not have worked at all..

Moreover I read about Crystal Eye healing, hopefully it will happen here aswell :)

I have found several drivers from multiple manufaturers for this model - from Suyin and Bison or are they the same?

Can somebody paste the "right" driver here? I have used the official Acer site

I would like to give it a last try after I reset the notebook to scratch.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

    TRY THIS,,,,,

    Power off and remove battery,
remove the screen cover to expose the camera. carefully unplug the wire that it is attached to the side of the camera board,(little white coupling) and re-insert. Replace cover - boot and things should be fine. Worked for my Acer Aspire 5740.

I did try that, but it was not functioning.

I guess I found the solution for the situation.
    Please follow the order..

    1. First uninstall any/all messenger you have (say skype, google-talk or yahoo-messenger). and then uninstall your camera driver by going to the device manager and uninstalling the Acer Crystal eye software.

    Now RESTART YOUR PC...

    2. Here be Careful...!

First again un-install your acer crystal eye software from the Device manager and then install the messenger first.

Restart your computer and EUREKA.... The camera works fine..

Remember this-- Never to have two messenger's using the camera at the same time been installed. This could be another reason why the skype says.. camera not found OR Camera already in use..

Cheers till next time this thing fails again

I bought a used Acer Aspire 5520 and reinstalled Vista Home Premium. Then had a problem with "camera no found" message when I clicked on "Crystal Eye Webcam". Spent hours searching the web and downloaded all of the recommended drivers but still no solution.

When conducting a full system virus scan I happened to notice the webcam light go on and saw the file address being checked by the virus scan at that time. This file contained one of the drivers I had downloaded which was the "Bison" driver.

After the scan I went into the file and sourced the "setup" facility for the driver. Clicked on this and all has been good since.

    Hope this helps you!
