How to Move eRecovery User Backup?
(4 posts)-
Hi Guys,
Question is same as title.
So far I know there are only options to Backup to HDD, Backup to DVD/CD media, and delete the stored backup.Anyone ever move the backups saved in HDD to external HDD or network?
The problem is I don't want to lose my backups, but I don't want to burn them to DVD because the data are very important.
I want to move them to external HDD or my network drive but don't know how to do that.
I can see the hidden folder used by eRecovery but I don't think I can just copy them out.
any suggestions/solutions please.

Working solution:
1. Make sure you see the hidden folder that stores the eRecovery data. It is "erData", usually located in D partition.
2. Move the "erData" to your external storage.
3. Now open the eRecovery manager, you will see that you can now find the backup is in the external drive instead.
4. (optional) Create new backup using eRecovery to make current system image. It will recreate the "erData" folder in the D partition with new backup inside.Note:
* You can also rename the "erData" folder in the external storage so you can make another backup of "erData" folder in the future.
** Remember that eRecover will only read data from "erData" folder, so if you renamed it, you will need to rename it back to "erData" when you need to read it from eRecovery manager.Posted 2 years ago # -
Hi,
I've added a 500gb drive to my 7720 and want any erecovery backups to go there, but I have just tried your method and it still looks at D:. I know, as it just tells me the available space on D:Acer support will not help, as they say they will not support disks added by the user.
Some support.:-(
Any suggestions please.?

Just discovered how to by a registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\acer\eRecovery\Main
The entry 3rdDisk_drive had a value of D
Changed it to F and it now looks at the new drive.
Hope this helps some other unfortunate person.
