Anyone know how to replace the LCD on 5534-1096 without taking off the Top Panel ? I have pulled bezel back away from the LCD but the hinge covers seem to keep me from removing the bezel completely .

    Hello DAM,

First, you need to remove the Power Button panel on the top of the laptop so that you can unscrew the hinges that hold the LCD panel onto the laptop. Remember to remove the WLAN cables from the unit and have them free. Once you've removed the LCD panel, you can then remove the Bezel and start your LCD replacemen.

It states in the acer manual for this unit that you need to remove the LCD panel first, before you attempt to remove the LCD or Bezel.

I will answer my own question .NO NEED to remove the TOP Panel or the Hinges .
1 .Remove the 4 screws holding Bezel together .
    2. Start at top center , pull inward toward keyboard the Bezel , work around to the bottom
    3. Loup a string around the Bezel hinge cover , pull outward 1/8 inch and lift up and out . Do same for the other side . The top Covers on the inboard Hinge may pop off but just pop back on when finished .
    4. The Bezel is now removed .
    5. Remove 4 screws holding LCD to frame .
    6. Lay a thin cloth or paper on Keyboard and lay the LCD on Keyboard .
    7. Disconnect connector .
About a 1/ 2 hour job as opposed to Acer manual 2 hour job .
