I have a Acer Aspire 9410-4933 and I wish to upgrade my laptop to 4 gigs of memory. I brought two 2 gig chips from crucial. When I replaced my two 512 chips the laptop screen went to a black screen after the windows xp pro screen. I then took out one of the 2 gig chips and had no problems getting to the desktop. I then changed out the 2 gig chip with the other 2 gig chip with the same results. Acer specs for my laptop which shows a max to 4 gigs. My questions is I currently have system bios v1.18 and there is a newer version 1.24. If I upgrade the system bios to 1.24 will that resolve my memory issue???
The reason I am asking is I notice on this site many issues with upgrading system bios.
I am wondering whether it is worht the risk and if upgrading the system bios will allow me to use 4 gigs of memory on my laptop??

    Any Ideas??

bios update may help, also could be picky on the memory.

another thing, the 9410 supports 4GB's. The 9410Z series only supports 2GB. double check to make sure you don't have the 9410Z

    I have a aspire 9410-4933.

The reason I am concern of doing the system bios upgrade is that I notice that many people posted problems with performing system bios upgades. So before I do the upgrade I wish to make sure that it is necessary to do.

As long as you follow the steps outlined on Acer's website for updating your BIOS it is fairly easy to do.
