   Hi everyone, Aspire 6930, I was trying to use Erecovery to reset to factory defaults, at 82% it froze and when I attempted to get it going again it shut down. now on start up I get a disk read error, and am prompted to use ctrl-alt-del to restart, this gets me no where, I have no back up disks, I guess this is what I get for relying on the partition, please anyone any help is much appreciated, I now have a really nice paperweight, I do have an XP disk I could try but would really like to re-coup Vista.

   6930? Still under warranty? Send it in. Sounds like your HDD went south

   you sure it didn't go North? lol, so "went south" means it went bad?

   Just trying to understand some slang here.
