Nlite SlipStream for SATA / AHCI drivers for XP on 5920
(5 posts)-
Hi, after many attepts to force the SATA drivers to install in my current Windows XP installation with out success, i have choosen to re-install XP from scratch.
I am dual booting VISTA & XP. Vista is the original OS, which i wish to keep of course.
There is a guide on here how to install the sata drivers after installing windows xp, but it misses out huge sections. So you just have to guess some parts! Some people have done it, but it's 50-50. I can not do it.
So, i have an Acer 5920 and i have the Windows XP disc and an ISO image of the disc. Would someone please be so kind to give me step by step instructions on how to slipstream the drivers to get SATA/AHCI mode working on both Vista and XP.
Thank you very much for any professional help i may recieve.
Also, Merry xmas & Happy holidays to all.Posted 2 years ago # -
you can try updating the BIOS to 3813, and in the BIOS options, you can enable IDE instead of AHCI, installing XP without the SATA is no problem

My bios already lets me choose between IDE & AHCI and i have installed Windows XP using IDE, but i want it to work in AHCI mode.
I have tryed forcing them to install in my current XP installation but with no success.
So it looks like i need to install the SATA drivers before i install XP or use the slipstream method.
Im just not sure where to start.
Thanks for the reply.

I don't know what chipset your machine uses, but I recently installed Windows Home Server (core is Server 2003, so works similar to XP) on my AspireRevo 1600 (Nvidia chipset), so I had to do some hunting to find the TEXTMODE SATA ACHI driver.
Oddly enough, I found them on the Gateway Taiwan site. I don't have the link offhand, but search for SATA ACHI TEXTMODE and you should be able to find the right driver. Textmode is the text-based setup where you hit F6 to install additional drivers. This is also what you need to slipstream the driver in.
Good luck,
