no low battery warning on aspire one
(5 posts)-
I have an aspire one running linpus.
When my KPowersave battery meter gets below about 20%, the screen abruptly blacks out, but the power button remains illuminated and the fan keeps on running.
After this happens there is nothing I can do to bring the thing back to life even if I immediately connect to AC power. I am forced to hold down the power button until it goes quiet.
Of course I lose whatever I was doing before the outrage occurred. This is really getting old.
I have searched in vain for answers from KPowersave, and directly from Acer.
IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO CAN ADVISE ME HOW TO GET THIS ASPIRE ONE TO GIVE ME A LOW BATTERY WARNING? All I need is a few second -- a beep or something to alert me that everything is about to go black so I can shut down properly.Posted 3 years ago # -
if you're running a fully updated system then I would advise contacting Acer directly.

I did.
The technical support representative told me that I should watch the little icon in the lower right of the screen.

Did you purchase the linpus verison of the acerone?
I've been having a similar issue. I've been having the same problem in both linpus and Windows strangely. I dual boot with boot.
There's a few comments in the following forum that updating kpowersave in linpus solves the problem.

But I dont see how this relates to me getting the same problem in windows. updating the bios hasn't helped me.
I've just updated kpowersave myself and am seeing if the problem is resolved. I'll post back later.

Thanks for that, noir_dreams. My BIOS is fully updated and I still have the same problem; however, I'm grateful to you for directing me to the above mentioned blog where I found the follwing quote:
"My AA1 freezes and the screen goes black when the battery is below 20%. No problem while wired."
Now I know I'm not alone. Others have the exact same problem I've been trying to describe. Acer technical support people deny it's existence. I feel vindicated. A thousand thank yous.
I'm living with this battery thing because I have learned to watch the battery meter and plug in before going below 20%.
Good luck to you in trying to resolve this issue.
